RECOMMENDATION
1. Approve the appointment of Rosemary Kamei as Vice Mayor.
DISCUSSION
Under Charter Section 503, the Vice Mayor is to be approved at the second meeting of the City Council in January.
I recommend that the City Council appoint Councilmember Rosemary Kamei to serve as Vice Mayor. Rosemary Kamei was elected to San José City Council with over 60% of the popular vote, represent ing District 1 in West San José. Prior to her election to the City Council, Rosemary has long been known for her public service and cont ributions to the community. Over the last two decades, she has served as a Director of the Santa Clara Valley Water District, Trustee on the Santa Clara County Board of Education, and Chief Development and Innovation Officer at the Silicon Valley Education Foundation.
Rosemary Kamei is a collaborative leader who is committed to putting unnecessary conflicts behind us as we focus on driving results on homelessness, community safety, blight, economic development and other issues of importance to our city. I know Rosemary will lead with vision and integrity in her pursuit of serving the residents of San José as Vice Mayor.
