Good afternoon,
As a Latina resident of San Jose, I am deeply concerned with how you choose to operate your centers.
Why is it that your hours of operario and amenities at the Almaden and Camden centers are so different that those at your Maria Marcelo center?
It is apparent that the demographics speak for how you truly see your community. The higher the income the more benefits your offer, whereas the lower the income the less you offer.
The lower income residents of San Jose now kore than ever need city council support. This community needs more hours of operation, they should have the same access time granted to the other two centers. This community can truly benefit from the services offered. This would help in promoting education, healthy and educational activities that help keep youth and adults off the street.
If you bother to take the time and get to know your community, you would understand that not every Latino household is the same. Many are families that are struggling and fighting to provide their children a brighter and more opportunistic future. Is it not in your duties to help provide to those that haven less income and cannot afford to obtain these resources from alternative locations? Help and designate more resources which sho include more operating hours and improve this location overall. The residents of this area also contribute to this city’s revenue and deserve the same resources as those offered to other families of San Jose.

I join 1,100+ community members in urging you to use a city-led community engagement process for any development of areas zoned Private Recreation and Open Space, including the 114 acre Pleasant Hills Golf Course site.
Re: Community input for former Pleasant Hills Golf Course site The Developer should take the lead, not the City Planning Dept.
Use a city-driven and very robust community engagement and visioning process like you are doing for sites a fraction of the size. The city and community should drive that process, not the developer.
Please also ensure any future plans for this site include dedication of a significant percentage of the site for public open space.

Traffic, I have seen the traffic increase in size and speed over the last nearly 35 years. Nor do I think we need large Golf Course houses for the relatively rich.
The owner has tried to sell this to developers for the last +25 years. What is different now? I'm sure homes will not help the homeless in the area, and will increase the crime.
OPEN up the land for hiking.
Use a city-driven and very robust community engagement and visioning process like you are doing for sites a fraction of the size. The city and community should drive that process, not the developer.
