Many of the recommendations outlined above will help facilitate faster construction of much needed affordable housing.
Beyond making it easier to build affordable housing, we need to preserve our greatest existing stock of naturally-affordable housing: Mobile Home Parks. Residents of mobile homes are more likely to be lower income and older communities that have few other housing options. To protect these neighbors, the City Manager is directed to change the General Plan’s land use designation for the remaining mobile home parks not yet redesignated from multifamily residential to “mobile home” park, and begin allocating the funding needed.

Please keep SOME of San Jose somewhat affordable!
Matt Mahan said his budget would include the money to redesignate the mobilehome Parks to help protect us. “... Beyond making it easier to build affordable housing, we need to preserve our greatest existing stock of naturally- affordable housing: Mobile Home Parks. Residents of mobile homes are more likely to be lower income and older communities that have few other housing options. To protect these neighbors, the City Manager is directed to change the General Plan’s land use designation for the remaining mobile home parks not yet redesignated from multifamily residential to “mobile home” park, and begin allocating the funding needed.” Even the mobilehome parks are becoming unaffordable. Lose them and people have nowhere to go but away from San Jose.

I live in a mobile home park for seniors & have a very low income. I would have to rent a room from a stranger or be on the street if our senior parks were razed. Please support the new mayor of San Jose in his attempts to create new housing low income people.
Thanks,
Teresa.

The Honorable Mayor Mahan,
We appreciate and support your directive to the city manager of San Jose which reads as follows: "To. protect these neighbors, the city manager is directed to change the General Plan's land use designation for the remaining mobiie home parks not yet redesignated from multi-family residential to "mobile home" park, and begin allocating the funding needed." My wife and I are both retired, and we have lived in Mobile Home Park on . for 15 years. We enjoy tghe park, but the rest of the story is that we could not afford tolive anywhere in this area were it not for the availability of mobile home parks.
Thank kyou for your support,
Rev. Dr. Larry And Jane LaPierre, MSN

I am immensely grateful for Mayor Matt Mahan’s sticking to his campaign promises to create affordable housing in San Jose, and for standing up for those of us living in mobile home parks.
The crisis of housing costs going beyond the grasps of long-time residents is horrific and thank God we have a mayor who is willing and able to stand up for the little guy just scraping by.
I believe I speak for all San Joseans when I say rising housing costs are the number one problem in our communities and are forcing many to relocate out of the area simply to avoid homelessness.
I am truly proud to call myself a supporter of Matt Mahan!
Kyle Farris.

I support our Mayor's directive to the City Manager to protect all Mobile Home Park Residents by changing the General Plan's land use designation for the remainaing mobile home parks not yet redesigated to "mobile home" park.
By the way, what is the status of making this redeisgnation to "mobile home" park for the parks previously approved by the council some months ago?
Thank you!

We, Ronald and Louise Thornton, support Mayor Matt Mahan’s directive to fund what is necessary to change the general plan’s to change land use designation for the remaining mobile home parks not yet redesigned from multifamily residential to “mobile home” park, and begin allocating the funding needed immediately. We request the whole Council to support this much needed predesignation at the March 21 meeting.

Council members
Your vote on the funding to give the Mobilehome Park designa on to 13 Parks is simple. On 10-18-22 the vote to do this was passed unanimously. Ma Mahan’s budget on page 24 simply codifies this and provides the funds.
Here are the Parks that were to be given the Mobilehome Park designa on in this round: Oak Crest, Lamplighter, Quail Hollow, Chateau La Salle, Mill Pond 1 and 2, Caribees, Hometown, San Jose Mobile Home and RV Park, San Jose Trailer Park, La Buona Vita, Sunshadow, and Silver Creek Mobile Estates.
I believe li le outreach is necessary since as the 10-18-22 memo stated: “this is work that our mobile home residents have both been aware of and ac vely figh ng for since 2015.” For the record: my Park is not among the first 13. I have been wai ng since 2015. Please get this done now and help protect the naturally occurring affordable housing stock in San Jose: the Mobilehome Parks.
