Dear Agenda Desk Dear Mayor Mahan and Councilmembers,
I support the Planning Department’s professional staff recommendation for the City Council to “accept the staff report on the scope, outreach approach, schedule, and budget for a proposed City-led outreach process for the possible redevelopment of the Pleasant Hills Golf Course property.” This 115-acre site, zoned for Private Recreation and Open Space but neglected and not utilized by the owner for decades, represents a rare and perhaps unprecedented opportunity for the City. Planning for development of this site merits a community engagement process reflective of the size and magnitude of the opportunity – a process that would allow residents to comment on potential uses without filtering by a particular organization’s priorities. A key step toward maximizing the opportunity is therefore for the City’s Planning Department to provide management, direction and oversight over the community engagement process, since the Planning Department would consider and prioritize the holistic and comprehensive needs of the city, the local region, and the community.
I sincerely hope that community residents will be part of the planning process. We live in the area and are aware of the needs
Of our community. Hopefully, the city will not once again ignore are value and input as residents as then done in the past to often.
Sincerely,
Y
olanda Amaro

Dear City Council,
I join 1,100+ community members in urging you to use a city-led community engagement process for any development of areas zoned Private Recreation and Open Space, including the 114 acre Pleasant Hills Golf Course site.
Use a city-driven and very robust community engagement and visioning process like you are doing for sites a fraction of the size. The city and community should drive that process, not the developer. Please also ensure any future plans for this site include dedication of a significant percentage of the site for public open space.

Every City and County Planning decision should be voted on by the citizens and neighbors being affected! NO homeless tiny houses on Vista!!! We didn't know this was being planned!!! I just found out about it on the Nextdoor group at night way AFTER the 1pm afternoon, weekday meeting!!! The meeting was when people were at work. The few people that were watching at that hour were very unhappy, including me.
Use a city-driven and very robust community engagement and visioning process like you are doing for sites a fraction of the size. The city and community should drive that process, not the developer. Please support the Planning Department recommendation for a city-led community engagement process.

Furthermore, please allow sufficient time for residents to comment on what would be appropriate for this site. This site is an opportunity for us to look at increased green space and recreation opportunities and take in the impact to the surrounding neighborhoods. We are especially interested in monitoring traffic flow and making sure that this corridor provides for smooth and adequate flow through the neighborhoods as well as providing sufficient means for entry to and exit from our neighborhoods.
Thank you for your consideration.

Dear City Clerk Dear Mayor Mahan and Councilmembers,
Since when do developers lead a community-engagement process on a proposed golf course to be turned city park or into another good entity? The neighbors have nothing to say and you know more? You don't live there! I don't care if you believe that the public "just doesn't know." The developers have bias that you just don't know. In other words - self-interest.
The San Jose public has a right to engage over the disposition of a public golf course in their neighborhood - and re- election wallets won't help re-elect you if the people are not satisfied. We want to weight in! So what if some of us would never know. We know.
Dear City Council,
I join 1,100+ community members in urging you to use a city-staff-led community engagement process for any development of areas zoned Private Recreation and Open Space, including the 115 acre Pleasant Hills Golf Course site.
Use a city-driven and very robust community engagement and visioning process like you are doing for sites a fraction of the size. The city and community should drive that process, not the developer. Please also ensure any future plans for this site include dedication of a significant percentage of the site for public open space.

We know.
Sincerely,
Stephen McHenry

Dear City Clerk Dear Mayor Mahan and Councilmembers,
As a constituent who lives near this area, I support the Planning Department’s professional staff recommendation for the City Council to “accept the staff report on the scope, outreach approach, schedule, and budget for a proposed City-led outreach process for the possible redevelopment of the Pleasant Hills Golf Course property.” The Pleasant Hills Golf Course site represents a rare opportunity for the City to achieve significant benefits for the community, including new publicly accessible open space. At 115 acres (about the size of 90 football fields), this is the biggest development site that San Jose has seen in decades. Any future planning of this site merits a community engagement process, especially given the magnitude of the opportunity. The process will allow residents to comment on potential uses such as urban open space, housing, and mixed-use development. San Jose residents deserve to have their voices heard regarding a future vision for this huge site and I am one of those residents who really enjoys the open space of south san jose.
Please support the Planning Department recommendation for a city-led community engagement process, for the benefit of the City of San Jose, the local region, and the community.
Thank you for hearing my voice and thank you in advance for supporting a no development vote on this area.
Sincerely,
Kieran Alcumbrac

Dear City Council,
I join 1,100+ community members in urging you to use a city-led community engagement process for any development of areas zoned Private Recreation and Open Space, including the 114 acre Pleasant Hills Golf Course site.
Use a city-driven and very robust community engagement and visioning process like you are doing for sites a fraction of the size. The city and community should drive that process, not the developer. Please also ensure any future plans for this site include dedication of a significant percentage of the site for public open space.

The residents that will be most impacted by the development of the old Pleasant Hills Golf Course want a city-led process with a lot of community input/engagement for looking at ideas for the property. A developer will NOT have our best interests at heart. If 115 acres was being developed in your backyard, would you trust a developer? Use a city-driven and very robust community engagement and visioning process like you are doing for sites a fraction of the size. The city and community should drive that process, not the developer.
