A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
JOSE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MILPITAS
AND THE CITY OF SAN JOSE FOR ANIMAL CARE AND
SERVICES FOR AN INITIAL TERM BEGINNING JULY 1,
2023 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2026, FOR AN INITIAL TOTAL
COMPENSATION TO THE CITY OF $1,655,697, WITH A
MUTUAL OPTION TO E XTEND THE AGREEMENT FOR
TWO ADDITIONAL THREE-YEAR TERMS, POTENTIALLY
THROUGH JUNE 30, 2032, FOR A TOTAL
COMPENSATION OF $5,613,115
WHEREAS, the City of San José (“City”) City Council desires to adopt this resolution for the reasons set forth in the memorandum, dated April 17, 2023, from the Acting Director of Public Works for the May 9, 2023 City Council meeting;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JOSE THAT:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute an agreement between the City of Milpitas and the City of San José for animal care and services for an initial term beginning July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2026, for an initial total compensation to the City of $1,655,697, with a mutual option to extend the agreement for two additional three-year terms, potentially through June 30, 2032, for a total compensation of $5,613,115.
