Please describe your experience in serving on a Commission or Board.
I served as the District 9 representative on the City of San Jose Envision 2040 General Plan 4-year review
2014
Considering your experience and activities in business, labor, School, professional, social,
Commissions, Boards, or other organizations, indicate the experience, training, knowledge and/or skills which qualify you for appointment.
In my combined 38 years working within both the Public and Private Sectors, my experience includes Civil Engineering (City of San Jose Public Works), Land Development / Project Entitlements and Construction Management, Position(s) on the aforementioned Non-Profit Boards and holder of a Private Pilot License/Single Engine Land (not current).
With this experience, I have significant transferable knowledge in City/County Land Use, Environmental/CEQA process, Community Outreach/Public Process, Budget/Finance and Aviation Principles and Practices, which will provide a solid skillset for this position as a member of
the Commission.
What is your understanding of the purpose of the Commission? The Commission is a recommending body to the San Jose City Council that engages in the Planning and Implementation of both the Operation(s) and Infrastructure of Mineta International Airport in keeping with the Policies, Goals and Objectives as directed by Council.
Please list three issues facing the City that you feel the Council should address.
1. Opportunities and Options for sustained growth - 2.
Flexibility/Creativity to address future growth and
community impacts - 3.
Managing Fiscal Priorities
Question applies to
Airport Commission
What are the three most critical challenges facing Mineta San Jose International Airport in the next five
years?
What do you bring to the table in terms of experience, expertise, or perspective to help address these challenges
1. Airport Expansion Needs/Impacts
2. Local/Regional Multi-modal alternatives to SJC
3. Maintaining
funding/schedule for high priority infrastructure such as Fire Station, additional gates etc.
I am confident
that with my Technical background, Project Entitlement/Construction Management experience, together with demonstrated success in years of working with many Local, Regional and State agencies, Community groups and
Stakeholders, I will be able to add value in addressing these challenges and assist in identifying, evaluating and recommending beneficial solutions.
Robert Hencken
Question applies to
Airport Commission
What can the Airport do to balance its obligations as a “good neighbor” and as a world- class international
airport for Silicon Valley?
If there is a conflict in achieving an appropriate
balance, how would you resolve it?
It is our obligation to communicate, educate and facilitate the "Vision" for the future and clearly define both the impacts and the major benefits to the local, regional and international communities.
With an
acknowledgement of issues/impacts and a commitment to listening, understanding and acting to address them, I believe the overall benefits of being/providing a world-class international airport will be apparent and gain community/neighbor enlistment. Despite all good intensions and efforts though, there will always be a level of conflict regarding what is an appropriate balance depending on ones perspective.
In those
cases, we need to redouble efforts to deal with the negatives and accentuate the positives in a tangible way.
Question applies to
Airport Commission
What can the City of San José and the Airport do to engage Silicon Valley business leaders and other
communities to support the Airport’s efforts to increase air service and add routes to SJC? What can you do
personally to help achieve this goal?
I believe the Commission, as well as its individual members, are the perfect ambassadors to provide outreach with
various Silicon Valley/Greater Bay Area stakeholders to gain support and help further our goals.
Continued dialogue showing our excitement for the future and sincere interest in how we can and/or continue to meet the needs of Silicon Valley and surrounding communities is essential in this regard.
Anything else you would like us to know?
I greatly appreciate the opportunity to be considered for a second term in the position of Airport Commissioner for the City of San Jose/SCJ and look forward to continuing to serve the City and my community in this capacity if selected. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I want to serve my community and city more than I am right now through church and volunteering work, and am eager to both learn about and help drive meaningful action on policy and program initiatives. My main objectives re: housing are to permanently move as many unhoused people off the streets as possible, and within that push public-private-focused agency partnerships to get a roof over as many unhoused people's heads as possible, with the right ongoing support programs to encourage stable lives.
My main objectives re: clean energy is to drive a transition in homes, businesses and public entities (schools, community centers, city and county buildings) to clean generation and storage sources working within the city but also with state, federal, private and even non-profit partners. This includes demand-side (usage, e.g. appliances) solutions.

I have the time, the interest, the intellect, the collaboration and communication skills, and the "motor" (willingness and passion) to put in lots of good, hard, fact-driven work on behalf of these critical issues.

Please describe your experience in serving on a Commission or Board.
Served on the Notre Dame San Jose Strategic Development Committee for 6 years (2015-21), and as a ruling elder at my church (Stone Church of Willow Glen) for 3 years (2019-22). As an executive leader at PATHION, was responsible for planning as well as attending and presenting, at our quarterly company board meetings
Considering your experience and activities in business, labor, School, professional, social,
Commissions, Boards, or other organizations, indicate the experience, training, knowledge and/or skills which qualify you for appointment.
I have professional experience and heavy interest in clean energy and specifically policy actions that could be taken at the city level. And I'm spending more of my volunteer time and free research time focused on housing issues, and would like to become more involved in city policy work in addition to directly serving the unhoused via volunteering
What is your understanding of the purpose of the Commission? This commission advises and makes recommendations to the City Council about clean energy adoption opportunities in San Jose. It helps identify proven and innovative methods for reducing carbon emissions, increasing energy efficiency and developing new, local energy programs and facilities.
Please list three issues facing the City that you feel the Council should address.
If this question is focused on the City Council as a whole, I would say that housing and homelessness has to be at the top of the list, as part of creating a livable community for all, not just well-off people like myself and my family. I would add that transitioning to clean energy operations in city facilities while also helping (with the state and federal government) create incentives for private citizens (homeowners and multi- family housing owners) to dramatically reduce their carbon emissions. Public safety is also a high priority, but in concert with making this city livable for people of all income and education levels.

Please state why you want to become a member of this Board or Commission including specific objectives which you would work toward as a member.
I was nominated by the Board of the Japantown Business Association to represent our community and hope to serve a second term with the DPB.
We are a small but active contributor to the Downtown
Parking Fund.
Japantown is one of San Jose's most historic districts and one of the U.S.'s last three remaining Japantowns; parking and infrastructure is critically important to our neighborhood's sustainability as a retail, arts, and historic district.
Please state any other information which you feel would be useful in reviewing your application
I am either a sole proprietor, partner or manager at four businesses in the Japantown, a district affected by DPB policies.
I reside in Japantown and witness, on a daily basis and in great intimate detail, how parking and transportation policies affect the businesses, nonprofits, and residents of our neighborhood.
My family owns and operates Roy's Station, a coffee shop in the heart of Japantown, and are deeply rooted in the Japantown community. Our efforts include crime awareness and personal safety for the neighborhood, and the overall efforts to grow the neighborhood have been a continual effort for over 14 years. I also run the Japantown Farmer's Market voluntarily on behalf of the JBA, because of the positive impact a community-based farmer's market has on Japantown.
My family is personally responsible for
almost 100% of the maintenance and upkeep of the center of Japantown.
My father sweeps our business
district's two blocks every day, 7 days a week.
We maintain the cleanliness of the street's historical
monuments and benches, and sidewalks.
We also handle graffiti abatement on a daily basis.
We fully
understand how every facet of Japantown -- from cleanliness, to friendliness, to community involvement, to traffic, to pedestrian safety -- affects how people feel when they come into this neighborhood.
My
company, Rasteroids Design, was founded in 2000 and is comprised of only my brother and myself. My design clients include Salt Security, Planview, Sacred Heart Community Service, Bay Area Community Health, San Jose Taiko, Empire Seven Studios, the Japanese American Museum of San Jose, and many local nonprofits and artists. My brother and I also personally developed (at our own expense), a neighborhood community website to benefit all businesses and organizations within the Japantown neighborhood (http://www.jtown.org).
When the City of San Jose, Department of Transportation and DPB were analyzing whether to double Japantown's parking meter rates in 2018 with the SmartMeter implementation, I created a SurveyMonkey survey to assess how business owners, residents and visitors of Japantown felt about it; in about a month's time, we collected more than 500 answers from respondents.
This information provided background for the DPB's recommendation and decisions made by the City Council.
I feel it is crucial to assess strategies with analytics, ROI and a true representation of a community's needs/wants.

Please describe your experience in serving on a Commission or Board.
I was elected to serve on the Downtown Parking Board for the last term.
I am the current President of the
Japantown Business Association, having been a member for almost a decade.
I was also appointed the
Art Commissioner for San Jose's District 3.
I've served on a few boards and have varying levels of
measurable success with them; some are short- term engagements with quick results, others are long- term efforts with an inability to make large moves due to impacted board members. The key is patience, diplomacy, flexibility, and keeping an eye on the big picture goals.

Commissions, Boards, or other organizations, indicate the experience, training, knowledge and/or skills which qualify you for appointment.
Addressed this above.
What is your understanding of the purpose of the Commission? To review and offer recommendations for the parking policies within the Downtown San Jose core and Greater Downtown.
Please list three issues facing the City that you feel the Council should address.
1. Combat the notion that frequenting businesses with free parking is superior to paid parking through enhancing the customer/visitor experience in a community or neighborhood; people will pay equal to what they feel the value of their experience is. 2. Effectiveness of parking strategies in small business districts (ESCBA, Japantown). 2. Creative parking strategies to combat the reduction in parking spaces per increased downtown development.

As part of the art community as an artist, collaborator and supporter, I'd like to see decisions made that help us retain our artists and give opportunities to help San Jose remain an affordable place to make art.
We need to work towards a future where art-making doesn't have to be purely commercial. Creators at all levels are needed, from art shows in garages to multi-story murals.

I've lived in San Jose for 11 years. Before I moved out west, I participated as a volunteer with a non-profit arts organization in Arkansas called Art Amiss and hosted music shows at my home.

Please describe your experience in serving on a Commission or Board.
I was the Literature and Merchandise Director for the nonprofit Art Amiss 2007-2009. I helped design the annual literary chapbook, gather entries, select them for the book by committee. I started the Merchandise position to help artists sell their work. I served briefly on the Programming Advisory Board at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles. I ran the social media accounts and website for my art studio (40+ artists) for 2 years.
Considering your experience and activities in business, labor, School, professional, social,
Commissions, Boards, or other organizations, indicate the experience, training, knowledge and/or skills which qualify you for appointment.
I've lived in San Jose for 11 years and would like to be a part of helping my city. I volunteer, but I don't feel like that's enough. I'd like to learn more about how the machine is built.
I'm answering these questions for
three different commissions, so I'm not sure where to start! I'm an artist, but I'm also a designer and
business owner. I understand the side of art that isn't concerned with money, but the constraints that make that unrealistic. I've seen artist friends priced out of San Jose. I've been a part of art scenes in smaller, more affordable places and can vouch for how income inequality harms the artistic quality of our city.
What is your understanding of the purpose of the Commission? This is where San Jose makes the decisions that affect how the rest of the world views our city in terms of the arts.
A balance must be struck in order to beautify the city and support a larger idea of art, some of which isn't marketable. I understand that the nexus of the three commissions I am applying for (not to get all of them, but they are all subjects I find important) is decision-making that positively affects the community-- all of us.
Please list three issues facing the City that you feel the Council should address.
Arts commission:
We need to make sure art in San Jose does not become synonymous with boarded up buildings. "Activation" of public spaces cannot be a euphemism for clearing out our homeless neighbors.
Artists must have access to the bottom rung of the career ladder: noncommercial opportunities, spaces to work, third spaces to meet with other creatives.
Historic Landmark Commission: Refrain from using
historicity as a barrier to development of housing Lift up history of the peoples who lived here prior to the Gold Rush Keep historical sites activated in ways that educate the community.
Library and Education
Commission:
Be ready for and protect against attacks on our library staff and programming, as is happening in other parts of the country Keep spaces open and well-staffed Pay staff well and attract the best talent

Question applies to
Arts Commission
Describe recent San José arts activities you have participated in during the last twelve months (up to five activities) and what drew you to attend? Live painting at History Park during Viiva Calle, September 2022 - riding bikes and meeting artists? Oh yeah! Viva Calle is a favorite event of mine. Deconstructing to Rebuild exhibit, MACLA, September 2022 - Caught this show while walking around downtown, no specific event. Japantown Artwalk, September 2022- I live near here and wanted to see the opening of the new Know Future Gallery. Artwalks are great social events, too. Conrad Egyir at San Jose ICA, Feb 2022 - I love ICA- always great work. The immensity of the artwork drew me in, and I knew the detail had to be seen in person. Soo Sunny Park at San Jose ICA, March 2022 - Interactive exhibit was hard to understand in reading, so I had to go and see what it was about. Also go to attend the artist talk.
Question applies to
Arts Commission
Describe the ways in which you believe the arts bring value to the general community.
It's hard to not see the affect of art in almost everything we are surrounded by- architecture, fashion, music, design. These are distillations of the work started at kitchen tables and basement art studios. Art is the way out of what we have to do and a reminder of why we keep on living. It's hope.
Question applies to
Arts Commission
Should the City of San José have an active role in arts and cultural development? If so, in what ways and why?
Yes-- making decisions and allocating funds show that art is an important part of the city infrastructure. It also stresses the importance of art in everyone's lives, not just building owners and season ticket holders.
Question applies to
Arts Commission
How can you contribute to advising City Council on policy and programs related to cultural development in San José?
I would like to see decisions that factor in the majority of people in San Jose that do not own property. Art should not just be for raising property values. I would be dedicated to implementing ideas that help emerging artists and the spaces that should exist at the "bottom" of the ladder. There must be a jumping off point for creating art that is accessible to the greater community. Before we can cast metal public art, there must be places to host sketch meetups and skill-trade. We have all the talent we need in San Jose without having to cast out into the greater world for artists. We need to support the people that are already here.
Question applies to
Historic Landmarks Commission
What is the purpose of historic preservation in San José and what is the role of the Historic Landmarks Commission in achieving that purpose?
Historic preservation must not serve as a tool to prevent development that helps the community-- in such a large and fast-growing city, the commission should be discerning in what is added to the roster, and know when a physical landmark
could be more helpful as an exhibit in a museum. Historicity should not be used to create undue burden for owners or make development difficult as to be impossible.
Amy Brown
Question applies to
Historic Landmarks Commission
Please explain your prior experience with historic preservation, with San José’s public planning processes, and in working with City or other public agency staff.
I have not served on a planning committee yet, but I try to stay active in what happens in my own neighborhood. I'm a huge fan of historical plaques and am always curious about who the people are that places are named for. San Jose is a diverse city and could stand to see a few more statues and parks named after people who have enriched the city, outside of bankers and major landowners.
Question applies to
Library and Education Commission
Do you have a background in early care and education issues?
Yes
No
Question applies to
Library and Education Commission
What involvement have you had in library and/or early education issues? I worked in a public library as a circulation clerk and interlibrary loans director for 2 years, and as a manager of a performing arts library and media room for 4 years. I've been keeping up with issues facing the library in the state I previously lived in (Arkansas). I can't work within the system there, I would like to make sure I am doing what I can to prevent similar ideological attacks against library staff and programming here. Libraries are an integral organ to a community, and I want to make sure they get what they need to continue providing wonderful and needed services to San Jose's multifarious community.
Since libraries are all about educational equity, I would like to note I am a 6+ year volunteer with the Health Trust, as a driver and meal-packer for Meals on Wheels and Aids Services.
There is a lot of hard
work to keep a community healthy.
Question applies to
Library and Education Commission
Would you be willing to attend local special events/meetings as a representative of the Library and Early Education Commission?
Oh yes! I live downtown and can walk there.

(Optional) Please upload a resume.
Anything else you would like us to know?
I make art but it's not my main gig. I am privileged to have an affordable place to make art (The Alameda Artworks) and would like to see spaces like that available to more people. I am also the owner of Jumbo Jibbles (giant stuffed fruits and vegetables).
In a previous life, I booked traveling bands to play in my living room (house shows), creating an entry level space for emerging musicians in my community.
I am not a
painter or 2D artist, so I do not have a conflict of interest in public art. I volunteer every Monday and Friday at the Jerry Larson Food Basket.
I've lived in San Jose for 11 years and do not plan to go elsewhere.

No civic awards however I have received numerous awards from my 40+ year involvement in the antique & classic car hobby.
Please state why you want to become a member of this Board or Commission including specific objectives which you would work toward as a member.
As an avid restorer of homes, commercial buildings and antique & classic cars, I have a special interest in historic preservation & restoration. It is most important to protect the historic inventory of San Jose as too many historic structures have been lost to neglect or insensitive redevelopment. I am most interested in being a commission member to be involved in the approval process of historic landmark applications and to perpetuate an ongoing and very important interest in local preservation.
Please state any other information which you feel would be useful in reviewing your application
I currently own and have rehabilitated seven buildings of historic interest within the city limits. I also own a classic car collection consisting of approximately 100 cars. I maintain all of these structures and my entire car collection myself which has enabled me, over many years, to fully appreciate the true importance of historic preservation.

Please describe your experience in serving on a Commission or Board.
N/A
Considering your experience and activities in business, labor, School, professional, social,
Commissions, Boards, or other organizations, indicate the experience, training, knowledge and/or skills which qualify you for appointment.
I have owned and operated several successful business ventures since 1978. These ventures have included either ownership, restoration and preservation of special interest & historic architecture within the city limits of San Jose. I have personally supervised the restoration of several residential & commercial properties in San Jose. I have been a member of PACSJ for many years and have hosted numerous fund raising events at my 1926 historic San Jose home. I am one of the founding neighborhood members of Hanchett Park Heritage Project. I have hosted numerous historic home tours including HPHP, St. Leo's & Rose Garden Home Tour. I am also a long time member of The Sainte Claire Club, a historic social club established in 1888 and currently housed in a spectacular Mission style structure built in 1893. I am a member of the historic preservation foundation within the club. I possess a keen sense of style and understanding of historic and special interest architecture and preservation.
What is your understanding of the purpose of the Commission? The purpose of this commission is primarily to review historic landmark applications, use permits relating to historic recognized structures, & advise within the planning and permit procedures to maintain and preserve historic inventory within the City of San Jose.
Please list three issues facing the City that you feel the Council should address.
Due to the increasing value of property within the city limits and especially within the downtown historic districts the following are issues of most concern to me and the city: 1. Preservation of smaller historic structures that exist on valuable real estate. 2. Working closely with area developers who seek to redevelop while repurposing part or all of the historic structure while understanding the developers financial interests 3. Educating the community on the extreme importance of preserving our past.
Question applies to
Historic Landmarks Commission
What is the purpose of historic preservation in San José and what is the role of the Historic Landmarks Commission in achieving that purpose?
Great strides have been accomplished over the decades by the commission landmarking structures of historical importance to avoid demolition by developers and residential property owners therefore protecting the greatly depleted historic inventory. An ongoing effort must be made and perpetuated to protect what we have in existence. This, I believe, is the primary purpose of the commission.

Please explain your prior experience with historic preservation, with San José’s public planning processes, and in working with City or other public agency staff.
My first experience with the Historic Landmarks Commission was in 2007 when I applied to landmark my home located at 295 Sequoia Ave. Over many years, I have worked with Building and Planning during the development of several businesses in the City of San Jose. I have restored several single family homes as well as repurposed existing commercial structures of interest.
Anything else you would like us to know?
I can send photos of several structures that I have rehabilitated or repurposed over the years.

I am passionate about helping underserved members of our community realize homeownership. I believe that the only way to improve the income disparity that exist in our society is through homeownership and generational wealth building. This does not happen if programs do not exist that foster and support this endeavor. I would like to work with housing providers and people of the city to come up with real solutions to the most pressing problems in our society. I am coming from a background of over 10 years real estate experience, with a focus on first time homebuyers and low-income buyers. As the current DEI Chair of my local real estate association, I have been championing, promoting and teaching our agents about downpayment assistance programs and how to help our community utilize them. However, some of these programs are not successful, some of these programs are great and need more funds, some could be great if we tweaked and improved them. I would love to provide that real life experience about how these programs are successful or harmful so we can create stronger policies and programs that will build a better and more sustainable community.
Please state any other information which you feel would be useful in reviewing your application
I am a fair minded and respectful person. I believe that all points of view should be heard and that the more diverse and inclusive we are, the better we will be. I would be interested in working with all committee members to provide the best advice we can offer the city and county when applicable.

I want to become a member of the Library and Education Commission because I believe, libraries are at the central core of learning, knowledge, and access to information. Young children have a place to come and be exposed to reading, explore stories, and be swept away with the magic of words. This was true for me for as a young child my mother took me to the library every week. Two books a week to start. Then as we got older, the library was a quiet and thoughtful place for learning, research, and completing homework. That followed me to San Jose State, where the library was a go-to building on campus. When my daughter was born this circle repeated itself. Libraries are central to seeking knowledge, escaping into a magical world of fantasy, delving into gritty crime novels, historical fiction, or learning about your favorite sports figure.
As I move into retirement and find ways to give my time to supporting causes and issues important to me the Library Commission is top of my list. If selected to become a Commissioner I will commit to the following • Being an Advocate and Champion for the San Jose Public Library System programs, services, and events. • Advocate for fair and equitable funding and resources for all the branch libraries throughout the City.
• Supporting the staff in connecting to nonprofits and encouraging more significant partnerships with local nonprofits • Provide thoughtful and meaningful input into the Library and Education strategic plans • Seek ways to support greater outreach to San Jose’s vast neighborhood associations to promote lifelong library access, and encourage attendance and involvement in the array of Library programs • Engage in the library early learning programming and bring my experience and expertise
• Bring energy and thought leadership to ensure the library continues its cutting edge work in narrowing the digital divide, enriching the partnership with SJSU Martin Luther King library, and enhancing library facilities.
Please state any other information which you feel would be useful in reviewing your application
I came to San Jose in 1976 and graduated from SJSU in 1979. Over these last four decades, I have developed a vast network of community relationships, a
robust knowledge of the political, landscape, and
strong community connections. I am well versed in public policy and budget advocacy.

For 18 years, as the C.E.O. of the Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits (SVCN), I interacted with many departments in the City of San Jose and gained a strong knowledge of city government and the services provided to residents. In particular strong working relationship with PRNS, Housing, and the Library. I have participated or been the lead convener on social issues that impact the quality of life in San Jose in addressing complex social issues such as ending homelessness, improving children’s health, bridging early childhood development, reducing the poverty divide, and ensuring access to healthcare. As San Jose intensifies and fills in its relatively low-density neighborhoods, it is more critical than ever that we fund, maintain, and UTILIZE the myriad public parks and recreation facilities the city offers. We now know that an active lifestyle with lots of daily opportunities for exercise, community engagement, socialization, and communing with nature yields a more productive economy, with less pollution, and higher levels of public health (physical AND mental). Parks and Recreation opportunities mean a safer, stronger, and more healthful San Jose for everyone!

I use parks daily! I'm familiar with land use laws and municipal ordinances. I am experienced with public testimony and advocacy to city commissions and council. I am familiar with Brown Act and other regulations regarding public service (appointed and elected).
What is your understanding of the purpose of the Commission? To provide a citizens point of view to staff as they develop policies and programs in Parks and Rec department. To increase the quality of life for all San Joseans. To provide input and advice to City Council on particular decisions affecting opportunities for parks and recreational activities in the city of San Jose.
Kelly Snider
Please list three issues facing the City that you feel the Council should address.
1. Programming in parks - activiating parks makes them more attractive and useful to a variety of users.
2. Dogs! and other animals in parks - as San Jose urbanizes we have to be thoughtful about how/when to share our parks with four-legged friends.
3. Partnership with agencies (county, school districts, transit, water) to ensure that all the resources within city limits are appropriately managed and accessed by members of the public.
Question applies to
Parks and Recreation Commission
Please describe your experience in working with governmental agencies.
In my career as a real estate consultant, I have managed hundreds of permit applications with agencies and jurisdictions. State, County, City, districts, etc. - from CEQA review to occupancy permits in new construction, groundwater clean-up and nexus studies, I have personally signed my name on the investigations.
Question applies to
Parks and Recreation Commission
As a Parks and Recreation Commissioner, how would you handle a situation where you have a volatile
Community group which is opposed to a staff proposal?
It's essential to listen, and seek common ground wherever possible. Community response is not usually "volatile" or hostile unless there is a true grievance at the heart of it. Sometimes the opposition is mis- placed - for instance a citizen may be opposed to new housing becuase they actually have a problem with parking on his/her public streets - but if you listen and seek an equitable solution, usually the kernel of discontent can be named and then dealt with adequately. REspect and listening are essential on both (or all) sides of the table. Oftentimes, educating and allowing experts or others with a different point of view to speak publicly can help de-fuse a situation, also. If a group is opposed to a allowing picnic reservations or charcoal grills in a public park, then perhaps listening to a family talk about a meaningful experience for a disabled child's graduation party at the picnic grove might help both sides open up their point of view, for instance.

Parks and Recreation Commission
Can you provide examples of major public policy issues that you have been involved in and what your role was in the issue?
I sit on the SPUR Policy Board and help review major land use proposals such as transit, housing, funding for parks (impact fees, etc.). I have testified before City Council numerous times advocating for smart growth, high-density TOD, and sustainability measures. I am an instructor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at SJSU and participate in many of the URB initiatives, such as the housing affordability conference, held annually.
Anything else you would like us to know?
I am excited to have the opportunity to serve. I use parks and city rec services every day with my pets and my three children, so I am hopeful I can give back in this way! Retirement Board Questions Only
