RECOMMENDATION
Direct Staff to include in the Code Enforcement’s Focus Area Service Team (FAST) Pilot Program to have the Code Enforcement Inspectors proactively refer municipal code violations in the public right of way, such as illegal dumping, to the appropriate City Department for follow up when observed within the focus areas.
DISCUSSION
We would like to express our gratitude to the staff for putting together an excellent Pilot Program that is crucial in addressing the quality-of-life concerns. However, it is important to address code violations and blight simultaneously to provide better service.
By coupling both the Code violations with general quality of life concerns, such as illegal dumping, and graffiti, the pilot program will likely be positively received as a step towards a cleaner, safer city.
