As stewards of the Qmunity District, Project MORE has learned its impact and benefits to serving the LGBTQIA+ community. In 2022 and 2023, we improved vibrancy and increased pedestrian traffic in the District, activating the space in new creative methods for the community to reimagine the space and its possibilities We collaborate with other organizations and placemakers to utilize the space for activities that benefit the culture and wellbeing of the LGBTQIA+ community The momentum continues with plans to refresh sidewalk artwork, a new mural, and address blight concerns on Lightston Alley. This work can not continue without your support, and our publicprivate partnership Project MORE respectfully asked the committee to support the approval of Extending the Post Street Traffic Closure Pilot Program (File #: ROGC 23-301, Agenda # C1), to include proceedings to permanently close the street to automobile traffic prior to the conclusion of the pilot on December 31, 2024 From survey data Project MORE collected from visitors at the District over the past 12 months, 76% of respondents voiced support to close Post Street to address pedestrian safety concerns Vehicles driving opposing traffic with greater risk to bicyclists, pedestrians, or motorists on Post Street. Allow Project MORE, in collaboration with the City of San José, San Jose Downtown Association, stakeholders, and the community, to continue our work and fulfill our commitment to develop a world-class LGBTQIA+ cultural district and fulfill the desires of the community.
On behalf of our Board of Directors and the queer people we serve, please vote to extend the Post Street Closure Pilot! We welcome the opportunity to discuss this matter in greater detail with you and members of your office, please do not hesitate to contact us. Passionate about the District, we look forward to building a stronger and thriving LGBTQIA+ cultural district together in San José I may be reached by phone at or email at We Are Qmunity!
