Dear San Jose city govt, and community,
In the incredible suffering, and loss of life, the Lahaina fires have caused, it is hopeful to consider, that future rebuilding efforts, can have a major focus, in the traditional practices, and rights, of the indigenous population of Lahaina. And their important role, within the Hawaiian Islands.
I hope, the Lahaina area, the county of Maui, and the state of Hawaii, will want to consider, and possibly begin to better follow - how the state of California, and it's local communities, are trying to better learn from, their own previous mistakes, of the past decade - in natural disaster preparedness & planning.
Overall, we need to continue the efforts, to be more open & clear, in how mistakes in planning, can be, both accidental & on-purpose. As we simply need to end, the practice of genocide, as the ways to develop, long term social planning, positive community sustainability goals, and our better human ideals.
The cities of Oakland, Berkeley, and San Jose, have spent much community effort & time, in the past few years, towards more open, caring, and thoughtful community preparedness practices. This can include, helping the people of the Oakland, Berkeley Hills, and San Jose, to more openly, safely address & mitigate, future fire, earthquake, and sea level rise issues.
To not cause harm to people, in community decision making, is part of, a Love Life philosophy, from the city of Oakland. A philosophy that I hope, can become an important part, of day to day planning, and natural disaster preparedness planning, for the future of this country.
Interestingly, these decent, good efforts, also help towards, more positive economic models & practices, as well.

For the past 10 years now, good guidelines, legal precedents, and best practices, have been developing, in human rights, civil rights, and worker rights ideals.
These good guidelines & legal examples, can help develop, a more shared, equal process, of public oversight, and participatory democracy, that can naturally work towards a future, of less overall harm, to everyday community persons.
These are concepts that can help develop skills, of good negotiation & dialogue, based on our better human reasoning. And can offer important steps, in how to more easily return to, the initial indigenous cultures of this country. These are ideas of peace, not war or harm, to solve our issues. sincerely,
