Re Item 8.1: Purchase and Sale Agreement for Properties Extending Five Wounds Trail from E. William Street to the Proposed Little Portugal BART station.
Dear Mayor Mahan and San Jose City Councilmembers.
I am writing to express my support for item 8.1 on the September 12" City Council Meeting Agenda for the Purchase and Sale Agreement, between the City of San Jose and Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), for properties extending the Five Wounds Trail from E. William Street to the proposed Little Portugal BART station.
Since my time serving on the San Jose City Council, I have supported this longtime dream of the Five Wounds community to extend the Five Wounds Trail. It will create a major increase in open space/parkland for the immediate neighborhoods which are currently underserved, it is an important regional connection to the Three Creeks trails to the west and the Silver Creek and other trails to the east, as well as being an important connector to BART and regional transportation.
Congratulations to the City of San Jose and VTA for achieving this agreement! Sincerely,
Senator Dave Cortese
