RECOMMENDATION
Authorize travel for Councilmember Pam Foley to attend the 2024 Sister Cities International Summer Leadership Meetings and Annual Business Meeting in Tacoma, Washington.

PURPOSE
Councilmember Foley is a Director for the Sister Cities International Board to serve as a representative for the City of San Jose.
The sister city network unites tens of thousands of citizen diplomats and volunteers who work tirelessly to promote the organization’s mission of creating world peace and understanding through economic development, youth and education, arts and culture, and humanitarian assistance.
The Sister Cities International Summer Leadership Meetings and Annual Business Meeting will advance the shared missions of Sister Cities International and the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and the newly created department of subnational diplomacy. This annual meeting is dedicated to cultivating people-to-people ties to foster mutual understanding and peace with other countries and states.
