Re: Support Blue Zones Initiative

Dear Mayor Mahan and San José City Council Members,

I am writing to urge you to support the Blue Zones Project and its efforts to promote healthier and more sustainable communities in San José City. As a proud representative of the City of San José and the County of Santa Clara in the State Legislature, and having previously served on the City Council, I have long supported initiatives that enhance public health and foster community well-being, such as Blue Zones.

The Blue Zones Project's evidence-based model, focused on healthy eating, active living, and social connections, aligns with my priorities of improving health outcomes and promoting environmental sustainability. I am grateful to the Blue Zones Project for its commitment to inclusivity and community engagement, uniting local governments, businesses, and residents to address our community’s unique needs.

Our city has the moral imperative to champion these initiatives for the health and well-being of all residents. Please do not hesitate to reach out to my staff Tuan Nguyen at [email protected] if you have additional questions or concerns.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Sincerely,

Ash Kalra
Assemblymember, 25th District
