November 4th, 2024
City of San Jose City Council
200 E. Santa Clara St.
San José, CA 95113
Dear Mayor Mahan and Honorable Councilmembers,
On behalf of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce, I am pleased to submit this letter in support of the proposed Tully Road-Eastridge Business Improvement District (TREBID).
The Business Improvement District (BID) program supports businesses within a particular location to grow and prosper, which benefits the wider community through increased tax revenues and community events.
Today, San Jose has a range of thriving businesses along well-trafficked corridors that are competing with the changing landscape of retail, office, and industrial needs post-COVID.
Creating a BID along the Tully Road-Eastridge corridor will help support businesses along the corridor thrive in this post-COVID economy and support the City of San Jose’s tax base for years to come.
The proposed TREBID is focused on two key areas: 1) promoting cleanliness and safety and 2) supporting marketing and branding. Both goals have numerous benefits for businesses, community members, and the City of San Jose. Enhanced safety measures including increased patrolling from security officers will create a safer environment for employees and customers in the district. Further, the proposed BID will appropriate funds for increased marketing, promotions, and special events. Those efforts will drive an increase in business sales and further establish the identity of the neighborhood which includes many immigrant-owned and historically underserved businesses in the district.
Many of the goals of the BID program are aligned with the goals of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce. For the reasons outlined above, we urge you to support the creation of the Tully Road-Eastridge Business Improvement District.
Sincerely,

Dear City Council Members,
At Lee’s Sandwiches, we are proud to serve the Tully Road community and strongly support the proposed Tully Road Eastridge improvement district. Our restaurant relies on a safe, welcoming environment for patrons to enjoy their meals and connect with friends and family. Enhanced lighting, landscaping, and walkways would create a more enjoyable atmosphere, encouraging more community members to visit the area. This initiative would bring positive energy to our business and to others around us, and we’re eager to see it come to life.
Sincerely,
My Ngoc Le
