SUBJECT: Filling District 3 Council Vacancy
RECOMMENDATION
Direct the City Clerk to return to Council on December 3rd with a detailed process and timeline for filling the vacancy using the process agreed to by Council at the November 19th meeting.
DISCUSSION:
The focus of the Council meeting this week is on whether the Council wants to proceed with an appointment or an election to fill the vacancy in the District 3 seat. Given the difficult debate on that topic, it is unlikely we will be able to leave this meeting with a detailed process to implement either outcome. After making the decision about how to fill the vacancy, we should decide at the December 3rd council meeting what the process looks like.
