Position
4 ● Reduction of Patrol Districts: Lower the number of districts from 16 to 12 (not including the airport). This will lower or eliminate the number of patrol teams operating without a direct supervisor.
● Create a non-sworn prisoner transport unit: This would allow patrol officers to remain in the beat structure (i.e., handling calls for service, engaging in proactive enforcement activities, etc.) for longer portions of their shift.
● Transition to a district-based deployment system: This would eliminate beats as a geographical determiner for deployment. All members of a team would be responsible for the entire district.
● Two officer car deployment: This would begin as a pilot in one of the four patrol divisions and would have to go through the meet-and-confer process with the POA.
