Dear Honorable Mayor, City Council, and Transportation and Environment Committee:
The City of San José has set some of the nation's most ambitious greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals, as outlined in its Climate Smart Plan. Many steps have already been taken towards these targets but there is much that remains to be done. As each further action is taken, the input of our city’s residents is crucial, and public engagement is a key pillar of the Climate Smart Plan.
It is clear that the sector of our city’s population that is at greatest risk to the long-term effects of climate change is our young people. Climate action is of unique interest to our city’s youth, so they have a particular right and responsibility to give input on the subject. The City Council has recognized this by establishing a seat for a youth representative within this Climate Advisory Commission. Further, young people can provide an invaluable long-term perspective on climate policymaking.
Making public comment at meetings of the City Council is a prime way to exercise this civic duty. Currently, however, young people, students of high school age or younger in particular, are generally unable to make their voices heard on critical decisions regarding climate change made at City Council meetings. If items are discussed before 4:00 pm, students will still be in school and so cannot make public comment.
To address this, the Commission proposes that the City Council delay the hearing of agenda items impacting the San José Climate Smart Plan and all aspects of its implementation until 4:00 pm or later during its meetings. We recommend that these items be identified in the Climate Smart San José Analysis of each memorandum going before the City Council.
This step has already been taken for agenda items involving the San José Youth Commission, and we believe that it would be similarly appropriate for items relating to climate change and emissions reductions.
Upon its approval by the Transportation and Environment Committee, we respectfully request that the Committee recommend that this item be brought before the full City Council.
Thank you for your continued commitment to our city’s youth, uplifting their voices, and preserving their healthy environment.

Sincerely,
/s/

Thanks for abating Chynoweth and making the neighborhood safer and cleaner.
These large camps should not be allowed in residential. And if someone complains about RVs the 72 hour rule should be enforced.

I have nothing to do with Barbara’s email requesting a spot in a safe parking for each RV in SJ or a tiny home for each unhoused built until every unhoused decides to move into it. Barbara please keep me out of these emails with this proposal because it is proven to be impossible to be funded or implemented and all of us a feeling the impact.
I am fine with abatements if there are complaints filed specially when the camps are next to residential and businesses with offices. As I saw on public records there were more than 228 interactions by Great Oaks camp and they also visit Great Oaks Water by Bernal. If people refuse what is offered they need to leave.
Please keep abating when there are complaints and send outreach no need to paralyze abatements since the city is slow to abate camps and there is more than enough time to offer outreach.
Thank you and enjoy your day off tomorrow!

So……
I’m guessing you’re all sitting in your offices thinking wow got that off the books, Chenoweth
is now cleared off. The mayor sends out emails saying “all clear”. And he moves on.
And just like that your job is done.
Well, guess again. You moved them over a few blocks and now they are setting up in Vista Park and those neighborhoods are furious.
Same as you did on Las Colinas, you cleared them off, and they went around the block on Via Del Oro, and Bernal.
Same as you did clearing out the homeless behind the homes on Bernal, and the 20 Great Oaks encampment, and guess what, they are all sleeping in those areas in bushes, bus stops, behind buildings and up against businesses.
Oh yes, who pays to replace the whole fence that’s been destroyed behind that church? Do we pay for it?
Its like “Hide h Pea”.
What kind of policies are these? And shouldn’t your constituents know what your plans are.
You need to tell them you have no plan for these trailers and homeless, they will not go into safe parking because of the

I think you’re just hoping they will just disappear.
And why does it take years? It took 4 years to clear off Las Colinas. Oh, and by the way, there are now tents in La Colina Park. Nice job guys……
Can’t you go there now. Can’t use our parks, our bike trails or any trails or waterways.
They are all infested with homelessness.
There is now talk about doing a recall, and I’m kind of for that. Some of you don’t deserve the job you have, or you don’t know what you’re doing.
Do you not visit Nexdoor the website we are all using. It would be very enlightening for all of you.
No one is happy with anything you’re doing. You’re not fixing anything.
Some local comments:
Tami S.
Go for a bike ride on any of the paved trails, from Hwy 85 northward, and you will see it all first hand.
Bicycling north of Hellyer Park towards downtown, on the Coyote Creek trail, was pretty scary a few years ago,
and we never returned. We also don’t bike the loop around the perc ponds, under the Hwy 85 interchange, near
Oakridge Mall, anymore either. On the Hwy 87 bike trail a few years ago, a few bicyclists reported being struck with
crow bars or things thrown at them, or broken glass put on the trail to cause a flat tire next to encampments,
so it is rare that bicyclists use that route nowadays too. San Jose has a lot of bike riding / walking trail options,
but many are unsafe now, sadly.

Hi neighbors , it’s a real shame for the city of San Jose, they temporarily solved the RV problem from Chynoweth
and moved it to our street on Vista Park . It’s frustrating every time you exit your house and face those
beat-up RVs in your face. Anyone have an idea what to do and how we can get them to move?
rodney taylor
Good luck we have been trying continuously for over two years in Monterey rd until the city gets serious and
post no Rv parking signs and starts towing them nothing will ever solve or stop these people from moving a

We are having the same problem over in our neighborhood. There was already 3 to 4 RVs in our neighborhood and
last week I noticed that there is now 10 RVs. It is a frustrating situation.
Viv C.
The city must secure a site before planning these moves and require them to A. either move to the site and track it or
B. Have the vehicle towed. If neither happens then if cited again in an area not legal to park it gets towed.
But it won’t happen until the City decides to stop this ridiculous shuffling that ultimately does not solve the problem.
Dennis Jarrett
If your councilman does nothing start a recall that will wake them ALL UP Josh Combs
From one street to another they will move again and another neighborhood will see like we have and complain
but the city doesn’t care. The mayor does not have this problem in his neighborhood.
Look at the Kellogg area,
Coleman area towards hedding all logged up with street campers and tons of RV trailers littering the area.
It’s almost 3rd world country out there and the big city people in charge are not doing enough.
Just a sample. It’s really bad. And it gets uglier by the day.
We need better plans. We need to understand are we enforcing laws? It seems as if we are only enforcing laws to tax payers. Big rigs, and trucks now line our streets in No parking or 2 Hr parking.
311 says they are in compliance. How can that be?????
This is the worse government in my 5o years.
For gods sake fix something………..
And Newspapers do your jobs. There are plenty of people who want to talk. Get out and talk to them.

Dear San Jose City Council,
Learn why this is important at
As a resident of San Jose, I strongly urge you to divest from Israel's genocide against Palestine. We have received nearly 1500 signatures from your constituents urging you to listen, so please be on the right side of history and introduce a divestment resolution in the next agenda.
You have the power to stop funding, and being complicit in a genocide. Please follow the brave footsteps of the city of Richmond and divest.

good morning,
Learn why this is important
i am a concerned san jose resident who is asking you to divest your people's taxes from companies who support genocide!
Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, and the rest of the world have had to endure years of countless attacks by the occupational lsra*li government and even more so the past year and a half.
The least you can do as a local governing body is to cease support of companies that continue to provide support for the murder and ethinic cleansing of Palestinians.
Do take this into consideration.
Have the day you deserve,
Amaline

Hello,
Learn why this is important
I'm writing in support of divesting from providing money to Israel. I think we should also divest from weapons companies that are selling weapons to Israel.
