TO: RULES AND OPEN

GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE
FROM: John Ristow
SUBJECT: See Below DATE: March 26, 2025
Approved Date:
3/27/25
SUBJECT: Update to the January – June 2025 Transportation and Environment Committee Work Plan

RECOMMENDATION
Approve an amendment to the January – June 2025 Transportation and Environment Committee Work Plan to drop the following item from the May 19, 2025, Transportation and Environment Committee meeting agenda.

Regulation of Oversized Vehicle Parking Report.

Purpose: Provide a status report on the implementation of the oversized vehicle parking regulation pilot program.
(Transportation)

BACKGROUND
The Department of Transportation implemented the Oversized and Lived-in Vehicle Enforcement program in Fiscal Year 2024-2025. These efforts have been documented and largely integrated into the City of San José’s Consolidated Annual Homelessness Report Mid-Year Update, to be heard at the City Council meeting on April 22, 2025.

Department of Transportation staff will provide updates and information during that meeting and be available to answer questions that may arise. Given the short span of time between the City Council meeting and the Transportation and Environment Committee meeting scheduled less than one month later, it is unlikely that there will be substantial updates or changes to the program meriting a standalone report.

Further, Department of Transportation staff have been directed to facilitate the drafting of a comprehensive Manager’s Budget Addendum during the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget process that will speak to the performance of the existing program, and potential augmentations.

The Department of Transportation requests to drop this item from the current work plan with the expectation that the updates will be covered and discussed at the April 2025 City Council meeting and in the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget process. /s/
