Re: Support for Item 10.3 - San José Innovative Project Pathway Program Early Consideration Review Process for a Project Located at 300 South 1st Street Dear Mayor Mahan and Honorable Councilmembers,
On behalf of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce, 1 am proud to voice our strong support for Westbank's proposed development at 300 South 1st Street—a project that represents a bold step forward for our city.

As the first project to move forward under San Jose's Innovative Project Pathway Program, this proposal exemplifies the kind of creative thinking we need to address our housing crisis. With 1,147 new units planned, this development brings meaningful progress toward our housing goals while helping to meet the demand for high-quality living options in the heart of downtown.

By pairing housing with a data center, the project introduces an inventive model that not only generates much-needed revenue for the city but also leverages sustainable practices —such as energy reuse—to benefit residents. More people living downtown also means more support for our local businesses, from retailers and restaurants to service providers.

This integrated, forward-looking approach positions San Jose as a leader in both housing innovation and economic resilience. We urge your support for this milestone project.

Sincerely,
Leah Toeniskoetter
