Spring 2025 Highlights
Advancing Climate Action While Supporting City Priorities The Climate Smart San José plan continues to drive progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by focusing on four key strategies: move to zero emissions vehicles, reduce the miles we travel in our vehicles, switch our appliances to electric, and power our community with carbon-neutral electricity.
The City’s climate initiatives, detailed on the reverse side for the latest September 2024 through February 2025 reporting period, also support City priorities around increasing community safety, reducing homelessness, attracting investments in jobs and housing, and cleaning up our neighborhoods.
Looking Ahead
Key upcoming initiatives include:
Launching a home battery energy storage system incentive program Finalizing a fleet electrification master plan for City vehicles Executing consultant agreements for a transportation decision support system to guide investments
Finalizing a Climate Smart Zero Waste Element
Hosting an inaugural Climate Smart training session for City leadership Bringing a Climate Smart plan update (Summer 2025) and an update on building electrification workforce development programs (Spring 2025) to City Council San José continues to advance its commitment to a carbon-neutral, resilient future while aligning climate action with the City's core priorities. Continued investment and focus are essential to achieving the City’s ambitious goal of carbon neutrality by 2030.

El plan Climate Smart San José sigue impulsando los avances en la reducción de las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero, enfocándose en cuatro estrategias clave: cambiar a los vehículos de cero emisiones, reducir los kilómetros que recorremos en nuestros vehículos, cambiar nuestros aparatos domésticos a eléctricos y suministrar a nuestra comunidad electricidad neutra en carbono.
