RE: Item 8.1: The Alameda Community Benefit Improvement District Dear Mayor Mahan and Honorable Councilmembers,
On behalf of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce, I am pleased to submit this letter in strong support of establishing The Alameda Community Benefit Improvement District (CBID). We urge you to move this process forward.

CBIDs, part of the Business Improvement District program, were designed to strengthen clusters of businesses in concentrated areas. As San Jose businesses adapt to the shifting retail, office, and industrial landscape post-COVID, creating a CBID along The Alameda will help dozens of small and medium-sized businesses thrive.

A CBID will deliver key benefits:
• Economic Development: By creating a clean, attractive environment, a CBID will draw foot traffic, boost business activity, and increase tax revenues. • Cleaning & Safety: Services such as sidewalk cleaning, graffiti removal, and waste management will reduce blight and enhance the corridor's safety for residents and visitors.
• Beautification: CBID funds can support landscaping, trees, public art, lighting, and signage, creating a more welcoming, vibrant streetscape.

The San Jose Chamber of Commerce is proud to support the businesses along The Alameda in creating a CBID that will support the neighborhood for years to come. For these reasons, we respectfully urge your support.

Sincerely,
Leah Toeniskoetter
