RE: Support of Item 10.2: Street Renaming of Street Segments West St. John Street, North Almaden Boulevard, and Santa Teresa Street, to "Sharks Way." Dear Mayor Mahan and Honorable Councilmembers,
On behalf of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce, I am writing to express strong support for the proposed renaming of several street segments to Sharks Way. This initiative not only honors our city's deep relationship with the San Jose Sharks but also reflects a shared vision for a more connected, active downtown.

The renaming is a key element of the broader "Stitching Districts" initiative —an important step toward strengthening the physical and cultural links between some of the most active areas of our city center. By creating a recognizable and engaging pathway, we are helping to shape a downtown that invites exploration, sparks civic pride, and enhances the experience for residents and visitors alike.

Naming streets and public spaces is more than symbolic—it's placemaking. Sharks Way will reflect the energy of our sports culture, deepen our sense of community identity, and support a growing sports and entertainment economy in San Jose.

We urge your support for this meaningful step forward in unifying and energizing our downtown.

Sincerely,
Leah Toeniskoetter

Renaming W. St. John Street to Sharks Way and naming a portion of N. Almaden Blvd. between Sharks Way and Julian Street to Little Italy Way helps with wayfinding, celebrates what San Jose has to offer, and shows support for the area.

Great idea! I support both the staff memo as well as the memorandum written by Councilmember Mulcahy, the Mayor, and colleagues.

Respectfully,

[External Email. Do not open links or attachments from untrusted sources. Learn morel You don't often get email from Learn why this is important Dear Members of the City Council,
As a resident of San Jose who lives clsoe to the Shark tank/frequently sees confused tourists trying to find their way to San Jose's entertainment areas I fully support renaming W. St. John Street to Sharks Way and a portion of N. Almaden Blvd. between Sharks Way and Julian Street to Little Italy Way. This action, as simple as it seems, would without question help tourists in finding their way around, would celebrate San Jose's heritage and entertainment offerings, and would enhance the area generally. It's a great idea; I support both the staff memo as well as the memorandum written by Councilmember Mulcahy, the Mayor, and colleagues.

Respectfully,
