A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
JOSE AUTHORIZING “FREE USE” FOR THE PRIVATE
2025 SAN JOS E PUBLIC LIBRARY’S PARTNERSHIP
BRUNCH HELD AT THE JANET GRAY HAYES ROTUNDA
ON JUNE 11, 2025, CO -HOSTED BY THE SAN JOS E
PUBLIC LIBRARY DEPARTMENT, IN PARTNERSHIP
WITH THE SAN JOSE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION
WHEREAS, in June 2019, the Council of the City of San José (“City”) adopted Resolution No. 79138 for the fees and charges for use of City Hall Facility and Plaza Use; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 79138, Section 13.080, limits free use of the City’s facilities to each City Departments for events that 1) qualify as official City business; 2) are free and open to the public; 3) occur on a Sunday through Friday; and 4) are booked thirty (30) days in advance; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 79138 does not apply to Free Use requests for private events that are not free and open to the public; and
WHEREAS, City Council approval is required to authorize F ree Use for the Library’s “Partnership Brunch” held at the Janet Gray Hayes Rotunda on June 11, 2025, because it will be a free private event that will only be open to invitees identified by the Library; and
WHEREAS, the Partnership Brunch will engage community partners and stakeholders as part of the development of the Library’s new Facilities and Customer Experience Plan, which is intended to prioritize facilities improvements and guide future Library capital and funding strategies; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to allow for the Free Use of the City Hall Rotunda for the Library’s Partnership Brunch event on June 11, 2025;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JOSE THAT:
The City Council hereby authorizes Free Use for the private 2025 San José Public Library’s Partnership Brunch held at the Janet Gray Hayes Rotunda on June 11, 2025, co-hosted by the San José Public Library Department (“Library”), in partnership with the San José Public Library Foundation.
