SOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
JOSE AUTHORIZING “FREE USE” FOR THE SILICON
VALLEY PRIDE 50TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT HELD AT
THE JANET GRAY HAYES ROTUNDA ON FRIDAY,
AUGUST 29, 2025

HEREAS, in June 2019, the Council of the City of San José (“City”) adopted Resolution No. 79138 for the fees and charges for use of City Hall Facility and Plaza Use; and W
HEREAS, Resolution No. 79138, Section 13.080, limits free use of the City’s facilities to each City Department, including Mayor and Council Offices, for events that 1) qualify as official City business; 2) are free and open to the public; 3) occur on a Sunday through Friday; and 4) are booked thirty (30) days in advance; and W
HEREAS, Resolution No. 79138 does not apply to Free Use requests for limited capacity RSVP-only events that are not free and open to the public; and W
HEREAS, City Council approval is required to authorize Free Use for the Silicon Valley Pride 50th Anniversary event held at the Janet Gray Hayes Rotunda on August 29, 2025, because it will be a limited capacity RSVP-only event; and W
HEREAS, the Silicon Valley Pride (SV Pride) 50th Anniversary event will commemorate SV Pride’s five decades of LGBTQ+ activism in Silicon Valley, amplify voices, foster unity, and promote civic engagement, inspiring attendees to participate in the weekend’s pride events in the City of San José; and

HEREAS, the City desires to allow for the Free Use of the Janet Gray Hayes Rotunda for the Silicon Valley Pride 50th Anniversary event on August 29, 2025; (a)

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JOSE THAT:

he City Council hereby authorizes Free Use for the limited capacity RSVP -only Silicon Valley Pride 50th Anniversary event held at the Janet Gray Hayes Rotunda on August 29, 2025, co-hosted by Council District 9 and Silicon Valley Pride.
