RE: Carpenters Union Local 405 Support for 826 N. Winchester Blvd.

Dear Mayor Mahan and Honorable City Councilmembers,
On behalf of the members of Carpenters Local 405 in San Jose and the greater Bay Area, we wish to express our strong support for VC Companies and their proposed development at 826 N. Winchester Blvd. VCI has demonstrated a commitment to thoughtful and inclusive development, ensuring that this project will not only provide much-needed housing for the City of San Jose but also generate hundreds of union construction jobs throughout the City and South Bay during its construction phase.

This development presents a valuable opportunity to empower local apprentices, including women, minorities, veterans, and at-risk youth, allowing them to establish or advance their careers in the construction industry. These individuals will have access to family-sustaining wages and essential healthcare, strengthening our workforce and community.

As the State of California and the City of San Jose strive to meet current and future housing demands, we encourage you to collaborate with VC Companies to make this project a reality. Through discussion and partnership, we are confident that VC Companies and the City of San Jose can work together to overcome challenges and set a precedent for responsible, forward-thinking development.

Given the development team's dedication to the City of San Jose, the Carpenters Union, and the broader community, we respectfully urge you to support this initiative and help bring this much-needed housing to fruition.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to your leadership and partnership in making this project a success.

Sincerely,
Doug Chesshire
