SUBJECT: RETIREMENT BOARD STIPEND DATE: June 11, 2025
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution of the Council of the City of San José increasing the monthly stipend for non- City employee members of the Boards of Administration for the Federated City Employees’ Retirement System and the Police and Fire Retirement Plan from $280 to $305, as recommended by the Salary Setting Commission.
BACKGROUND
In November 2014, voters in the City of San José passed Measure G, amending the powers and duties of the Salary Setting Commission to include making biennial recommendations to the City Council regarding the monthly stipend for non-City employee members of the retirement board or boards which administer the retirement plan or plans.
On March 24, 2025, the Salary Setting Commission unanimously adopted the recommendation of a $25 per month increase from $280 to $305 in the stipend per board meeting for non-City employee members of the Retirement Boards.
