Our firm is located at . Any name change to the street would be detrimental to our business operations. The change would entail a number of costs and issues for our firm that include regulatory filings, marketing/promotional material (both disposal of existing and replacement with new), re-filing corporate records including fictitious business name filing, federal filings etc., banking information, just to name a few. Having recently moved to this location we are well aware of the time commitment and cost of the address change, which we estimate will be north of $25000. SEG Inc is opposed to the name change for these reasons.

We are tenants of , occupying this location for the past 25 years. We would like to tender our formal objection to application for File No. ST25-003, which proposes renaming N. Almaden Blvd between W. St. John and W. Julian St. We received no notification of this proposed action! I would think that proper procedure would notify the owners of the properties involved and the commercial tenants a 200 N. Almaden Blvd. owned by 150 North Almaden LLC. There would be negative results from this action for our company, as we have been in business here for years. The financial impact would be extremely significant to our business.
We are an insurance agency, licensed throughout the United States and appointed with over 200 companies. Our name is even on the building! The tenants of this commercial building would be adversely affected by the proposed name change, but there are also critical procedural issues: Lack of Due Process: To our knowledge, none of the affected property owners or occupants were given proper notice before the hearing date was set.
This oversight has prevented our community from offering timely feedback and objections. Missing Petition:
The application does not include a petition signed by affected property owners on the subject street. The absence of such a petition suggests a lack of community support for this proposal. Applicant Standing: The application was submitted by parties who do not own property on North Almaden Boulevard (Little Italy and the San Jose Sharks). We question whether a non-interested party has the standing to initiate a street renaming application. Respectfully, we request that the actions of the applicants be reviewed with an expectation of withdrawal of this proposal. The are only 3 property owners affected, 150 North Almaden LLC, Grace Hemandez and Chris Champas, copied on this email. As long term tenants we join the owners in 100% opposition to this proposed change. A review of the irregularities should merit a re-evaluation of the application?s validity Respectfully, John H. I am the homeowner at I am opposed to the street name being changed at all. It would create many issues in my life with all my personal and business contacts. I became a trustee fairly recently and all of my deceased family member I am responsible to over see all of their correspondence. This process takes a very long time. I was very notified of this planning change, never was allowed to go to any hearing regarding it.
I wish that Little Italy would share these planning ideas, and any all events relevant to my life.

Re: Opposition to San José City Permit Application #ST25-003 (Scheduled September 16, 2025)
Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council,
We, the undersigned property owners and tenants of N Almaden Blyd, submit this letter to register our unanimous opposition to Permit Application ST25-003 in advance of the September 16, 2025 hearing.
Burden on Affected Properties
The proposed street renaming would create significant hardship for every owner and tenant along N. Almaden Blvd. These burdens include:
Financial costs of changing legal documents, leases, contracts, business licenses, utilities, and mailing addresses.
• Operational disruptions from mail delivery problems, customer and vendor confusion, and the need to update online mapping and service directories. • Community impact, including the loss of long-established neighborhood identity and continuity for residents and businesses.
The application offers no benefit to those who live and work here while imposing real costs and disruptions.
100% Opposition
Importantly, 100% of the affected property owners and tenants of N Almaden Blvd oppose this application. There is no support among those directly impacted. To proceed despite unanimous opposition would disregard the voices of the very people most affected by this action. 150 NORTH ALMADEN LLC
Precedent and Policy
Under City Council Policy 6-5 (Street Naming and Street Name Change), minor street name changes have historically required the consent of affected property owners and tenants. This requirement was upheld in the August 22, 2017 City Council meeting concerning Permit Application ST17-003, as well as in the subsequent resolution approving that application.
Proceeding without owner/tenant consent would be inconsistent with this established precedent and contrary to the policy intent.
Request
For these reasons, we respectfully request that the City Council deny Permit Application ST25- 003 at the September 16, 2025 hearing.
Respectfully submitted,

Honorable Members of the San Jose City Council

Dear Council Members,
I am writing to express my strong objection to the proposed street name change for North Almaden Blvd to Little Italy Way.
As a local business owner, I am deeply concerned about the potential impacts this change would have on my business, as well as the unnecessary costs and inconvenience it will cause for the other residents and businesses on the street. Given that there are only 3 addresses on N Almaden Blvd, the change of the street name is purely for the benefit of unaffected 3r° parties and the petitioner, Sharks Sports and Entertainment.
The proposed street name change would significantly affect my business, SEG Inc, located at 200 N Almaden Blvd, STE 250.
Changing the street name would require us to rebrand, which would be a costly and time-consuming process. Moreover, it would likely cause confusion for our customers, potentially leading to a loss of business and revenue.
Furthermore, the cost of implementing the street name change would be substantial. We will need to redo all of our marketing material, update federal and state filings, refile our FBN, update our financial institutions and most importantly notify our clients of yet another address change.
I understand that the proposal may be driven by a desire to honor a particular individual or group. However, I would like to suggest that there may be alternative ways to achieve this goal without changing the street name. Perhaps a plaque or monument could be erected to commemorate the street without officially changing the name. A vanity placard would accomplish essentially the same benefit as an official street name change, without the undue expense for a small business such as ours to go through an address change. Having recently moved our business from Santa Clara to San Jose, I am well aware of the excessive burden that this address change will pose, as well as the considerable and real expense for our firm.
In light of the potential impacts on local businesses, the unnecessary costs, and the inconvenience it would cause, I urge you to reject the proposed street name change. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this matter further and explore alternative solutions that would achieve the desired goal without causing undue hardship.
Thank you for considering my objection.
Sincerely
Wayne Johnson

San Francisco, September 12, 2025
Dear San Jose City Council,
I write to you as the Italian Consul General of San Francisco to voice my support in favor of Councilmember Michael Mulcahy's proposal to inaugurate "Little Italy Way" in the City of San Jose.
The Little Italy neighborhood has served as a beacon of Italo-American heritage for over a century-first as a home of the first wave of immigrants in 1880 and today as a confluence of Italian traditions through local cultural and commercial endeavors.
As compatriots and the community at large gather on October 5th to celebrate the 8th annual Italian Festival, the renaming of "Little Italy Way" would commemorate accordingly the neighborhood's ability to both honor traditions and attract dynamic opportunities for a diverse population.
I would like to express my immense gratitude for Councilmember Mulcahy's inspired proposition to further strengthen and honor the Italian heritage intrinsic to San Jose Community.
Along with our Honorary Consul in San Jose Salvatore Caruso and the office of the Italian Consulate General in San Francisco, I look forward to supporting future cultural, technological, and commercial initiatives to further strengthen these Italo-America bonds.
With my most sincere regards,
The Consul General
Massimo Carnelos

[External Email. Do not open links or attachments from untrusted sources. Learn more] Councilmember Salas,
Our Little Italy way street renaming application is in motion and will ultimately be set to be voted on by the council. The section of west Saint John street we are proposing to rename is just in the Little Italy business district going along the Guadalupe park and ending at the SAP. The only addresses being affected or changed are the Italian Museum & cultural center and our surrounding italian restaurant businesses.

Josh:
Thank you for your ongoing and long-standing advocacy of Little Italy, and for uplifting an important San Jose neighborhood. Your leadership, along with other champions and stalwart local business owners, has resulted in something very special. Our family is proud to have been in from the beginning, and now as the Councilmember to Little Italy, I look forward to bringing even more of Little Italy and its neighboring assets to life.
As follow up to our meeting today, March 27th, we are formally asking that you endorse the plan to rename West St. John as Sharks Way, and support our plan to rename N. Almaden Blvd. to Little Italy Way (from Julian to W. St John only) as presented to your assembled group of colleagues, board members, and fellow business owners from Little Italy.
For others on this chain not in attendance, Michael Lomio from the Mayor's office and 1 were pleased to share details about the larger vision for the "stitching districts" plan - with Little Italy at its heart - and how exciting it is to see so many stakeholder groups, including the Sharks organization, D3 Councilmember Salas, and Mayor Mahan, stepping forward to invest into a pedestrian corridor connecting San Pedro Square Market (SPSM in District 3) to SAP/Sharks (in District 6) via Little Italy. The Mayor was very intentional in his recent budget message, in part, because of our advocacy and recognizing that we have momentum that must harness right now. As a result, there are projects and placemaking improvements around Arena Green East and West and Confluence Park that have already begun, with much more to come and real dollars behind it.

Over the last few weeks, I have spoken to many of you directly and I want to assure you this commitment on the renaming of the streets needs to be put behind us so that Little Italy can be brought back to the table to be included in plans moving forward. We request confirmation of your commitment to the street naming plan by Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 5:00 pm.
Thank you for your consideration and attention to this important, exciting opportunity.

We are ready to fabricate and install standard City street signs (DOT absorbs the cost). We will coordinate through OED on timing of the sign install.
If the signs are not standard, then we would need to develop a budget to pay for the signs. If the important event is October 5 l am sure we can meet that timeframe.

I was typing too fast and confused myself on two different events.
Little Italy Renaming event is Oct 3 or Oct 5, so if we could get those specific signs installed closer to that date (late September) that would be great.

[External Email. Do not open links or attachments from untrusted sources. Learn more]
Lots to catch you both up on regarding the Little Italy hotel.
Really need to work to push the option using portions of the park as the other option involves buying the Littlest Little Italy building and vacating all our tenants (Ancora Vino, Bibo's Pizza, Torino panino etc) and that building just becomes part of hotel with no restaurant concepts at all.
We have site maps for both options and got them to incorporate a Tuscan theme. Just can't allow this to move forward by sacrificing all the momentum and italian businesses that were added with "Littlest little italy" building.
Goal is to find a way for the hotel to utilize a portion of parkland for the hotel and have a vote be decided by the City Council.
We had a meeting with Case Swenson today about purchase of building.
Myself and Case are pushing to have swenson build the hotel with either proposed development option if they close escrow.

To: Mayor Mahan and Members of the San Jose City Council RE: Item 10.2 - Letter in Support of the Proposed Street Renaming to Little Italy Way Honorable Mayor and Members of the San Jose City Council:
Thanks to the support and leadership of Councilmember Mulcahy and the City's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services, pickleball players in San Jose now have the opportunity to play on four newly-constructed, state-of-the-art pickleball courts only steps away from the SAP Center and the Little Italy San Jose Business District. These courts provide countless physical, social, and mental health benefits on a daily basis for pickleball players of all ages, colors, and backgrounds. Additionally, the increase in foot traffic to Little Italy and Arena Green East has helped reduce blight in the park while also introducing new customers to local restaurants and businesses.
Recent efforts by the City, local organizations, and the San Jose Sharks to beautify and activate Arena Green and its surrounding neighborhoods have had a noticeable positive effect on the quality of life in our city. The proposed street renaming of a segment of North Almaden Boulevard to Little Italy Way would further complement this progress, and by stepping up the branding efforts of our city, we can better attract visitors to the downtown core and improve the economic vitality of our region.
I encourage the Mayor and the City Council to support the proposed renaming to Little Italy Way. Doing so would increase tourism, foot traffic, and local pride within this corridor, while also adding warranted geographic recognition to this culturally and historically significant pocket of our city.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
Best regards,
Chris Roth

RE: Support of Item 10.2: Renaming of a Street Segment of North Almaden Boulevard to "Little Italy Way."
Dear Mayor Mahan and Honorable Councilmembers,
On behalf of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce, I am writing to express strong support for the proposed renaming of North Almaden Boulevard to Little Italy Way and the subsequent memorandum to align this renaming with Sharks Way. This initiative not only honors our city's deep relationship with San Jose's Italian heritage district and the San Jose Sharks, but also reflects a shared vision for a more connected, active downtown.
The renaming is a key element of the broader "Stitching Districts" initiative — an important step toward strengthening the physical and cultural links between some of the most active areas of our city center. By creating a recognizable and engaging pathway, we are helping to shape a downtown that invites exploration, sparks civic pride, and enhances the experience for residents and visitors alike. The designation establishes a clear anchor for visitors moving between Little Italy, San Pedro Square Market, Arena Green, and the SAP Center.
With the Super Bowl, NCAA March Madness games, and FIFA World Cup matches coming to San Jose in 2026, this corridor will welcome thousands of visitors from across the nation and the world.
Aligning street names with nearby landmarks will elevate the visitor experience, encourage exploration of San José's cultural and entertainment offerings, and strengthen our city's reputation on the global stage.
Naming streets and public spaces is more than symbolic—it's placemaking. We urge your support for this meaningful step forward in unifying and energizing our downtown.
Sincerely,
Leah Toeniskoetter
