Hello Mayor and City Councilmembers:
1 am writing as a voter and taxpayer and resident of Downtown San Jose for the last 11 years who is vehemently opposed to the police purchasing a plane! Agenda Item 4.2 For what do they need a plane?! To further surveil and criminalize our community? Just no.
The timing of this I find very interesting since Governor Newsom announced he'd be sending in state troopers in September to clear out unhoused encampments. Mayor, it seems like you both are competing for the adoration of Trump criminalizing and harassing folks however you can, instead of actually living out democratic values and actually investing in solutions that actually work. l'd also like to oppose the 7% Police raise amounting in $7.7 million dollars annually. This is an unprecedented time, with the passage of H.R. 1 which will result in the slashing of Medicaid, food stamps, and housing funding. The police receive 27% of the entire budget that's $1.485 Billion Dollars.
They do not need a cent more!!
So, I ask that each one of you vote with common sense in mind and stop siphoning money from the community and putting it into the police.
Thank you!

[External Email. Do not open links or attachments from untrusted sources. Learn more] You don't often get email from Learn why this is important Hello Mayor and City Councilmembers:
I am writing as a voter, taxpayer, and resident of San Jose for the last 33 years who is vehemently opposed to the police purchasing a plane!
The presentation for Agenda Item 4.2 states that SJPD wants a plane "to greatly enhance public safety." How does having a plane enhance public safety? Can SJPD provide data that shows how a plane enhances public safety? l'd also like to oppose the 7% Police raise amounting to $7.7 million dollars annually. This is an unprecedented time, with the passage of H.R. 1, which will result in the slashing of Medicaid, food stamps, and housing funding. The police receive 27% of the entire budget that's $1.485 Billion Dollars. The police department must work within its current budget, as the rest of us do.
Please vote to OPPOSE the purchase of a plane for SJPD.
Thank you!
