SUBJECT: Update to the August - December 2025 Neighborhood Services and Education Committee Work Plan
RECOMMENDATION
Approve an amendment to the August - December 2025 Neighborhood Services and Education Committee Work Plan to drop the following item scheduled for the October 9, 2025 Committee meeting.
Coordination of Homelessness Activities Audit Report.
Purpose: Provide an audit report on the coordination of homelessness activities. (City Auditor)
BACKGROUND
The Coordination of Homelessness Activities Audit Report was scheduled to be heard at the October 9, 2025 Neighborhood Services and Education (NSE) Committee meeting, but that meeting has been cancelled due to lack of a quorum. The next regularly scheduled NSE Committee meeting is on December 11, 2025.
In coordination with the City Auditor, this memorandum recommends dropping the Coordination of Homelessness Activities Audit Report from the NSE Committee Work Plan. Dropping the audit will allow it to be brought directly to the City Council on October 28, 2025 without first going to the Committee. This approach avoids the delay that would result from deferring the item to the December 11, 2025 NSE Committee meeting. It also helps to manage the length of that meeting, which already hosts multiple significant items.
