Purpose:

Last July, Mayor Mahan joined the ninth annual cohort of the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, joining city leaders from across the U.S. and around the world. The Capstone Convening is a culminating component of the initiative and is intended to support participating city leaders in advancing the work developed over the course of the program.

Designating Mayor Mahan as the City’s representative is consistent with his role as the City’s participant in the cohort and maintains continuity with the work undertaken through the initiative.

City leaders today face difficult challenges that require creative solutions. The Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative helps senior city officials create lasting positive change by strengthening their ability to tackle complex issues and enhance quality of life for their communities. Operated through the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University, the program provides essential leadership and management training to better serve residents.
