BACKGROUND

The League is a member organization that advocates for federal and state policies that support California towns and cities. Each year, the League convenes a General Assembly to approve resolutions for the organization. Resolutions are policy statements that guide the League’s legislative positions and actions. To expedite the conduct of business at the General Assembly meeting, each California member town or city’s legislative body designates a voting representative for the annual meeting.

ANALYSIS

Approving a voting delegate and alternate for the General Assembly ensures the City of San José has a vote and voice at the General Assembly annual meeting for League resolutions.

EVALUATION AND FOLLOW-UP

The Administration will include any significant League-related work in its regular reports to City Council on the Intergovernmental Relations program presented by the City Manager’s Office of Administration, Policy, and Intergovernmental Relations team.
