CUSTODIAL FACILITY ON PRIVATE PROPERTY
RECOMMENDATION
Direct the City Manager and City Attorney to return to City Council with an amendment to the proposed interim ordinance to implement a temporary moratorium on the filing, acceptance, processing, or approvals of applications for the establishment, expansion, or change of use for a detention and custodial facility on public and private property within the City of San José, to the extent permitted under federal and state law.
DISCUSSION
This temporary moratorium on the filing, acceptance, processing, or approvals of applications for the establishment, expansion, or change of use for a detention and custodial facility in San José is an important step to protect our community. Our residents and the region deserve the strongest approach possible based on applicable laws.
