3 STEPS
✓Transit Study – Service Alternatives
✓Renegotiate Contract with Transportation Provider
✓Five-Year Funding and Operational Plan
✓Consultant Recommendation Approved by SLTMO Board:

Dual Interlaced Loops with 30-minute headways (2 Buses) ▪ 4 Buses to 2 Buses
▪ No change to route or stops - North & South Loops with the central stop at BART ▪ North & South Loops start at BART at the same time. Upon returning to BART, North Loop becomes South and South becomes North
▪ Advantage: Dwell time is reduced at BART allowing more frequent headways (time between buses at each stop)
▪ Bus frequency goes from 20 to 30 minute headways
Nelson Nygaard Study
4 SERVICE PLAN - DUAL INTERLACED LOOPS
Dual Interlaced Loops with 30-minute headways (2 Buses) ▪ Works with 3% or 20% transportation cost increase.
▪ Maintains current route and 2015 service improvements with exception of reduced headways.
▪ Reduces cost by 50% with only a 10-minute decrease in bus frequency. ▪ Provides the most service under current and future funding levels. ▪ Allows for potential expansion in service if new funding is identified. ▪ No other alternative offers a similar balance of service maintenance and cost reduction.
