WHEREAS, the City desires to amend the Municipal Code to clarify the District representation of Youth Advisory Commission members, their terms of office, and allow for the provision of Alternate Commissioners on the San Leandro Youth Advisory Commission; and
WHEREAS, providing for Alternate Commissioners on the Youth Advisory Commission would increase participation by youth residents in the City’s civic life, aid in their personal, educational, and professional development, and would help to move questions and issues important to the City’s youth; and WHEREAS, the providing for Alternate Commissioners on the Youth Advisory Commission would maximize community engagement opportunities by promoting Commission meeting attendance and reducing causes for meeting cancellations.
