FERAL CATS
OPTIONS
1. City amend the contract with EB-SPCA to provide
spay/neuter services. EB-SPCA is open to the amendment.
However, they do not have current staffing to provide this service.
2. Contract with a Veterinarian to work two days a month from the EB-SPCA facility for spay/neuter programs.
• Staff researched several Veterinarians within city limits who offer Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs. Several stated they could not handle the anticipated volume or staffing capacity the city needs. However, one quoted $195 for neutering and $295 for spaying.
OPTIONS
3. Partner with Feral Change, a nonprofit based in Oakland, willing to educate and provide trapping equipment to
residents. Residents need to schedule a Vet appointment with Feral Change or a Vet of their choice before trapping for spay/neuter needs.
4. Agree with ACT Spay/Neuter Clinic in Stockton to TrapNeuter-Return (TNR) at $40 per cat. Staff would need to care for the animal a day before the appointment, travel to Stockton, and remain until the end of the procedure.
OPTIONS
5. Not implement a comprehensive Feral Cat program due to staffing and funding challenges, but educate the
community about Feral Change and the services they
provide.
