IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO
RESOLUTION NO. 2024-XXX
RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE FISCAL YEAR 2024-2029 FIVE-YEAR
CITY OF SAN LEANDRO AGE-FRIENDLY ACTION PLAN
WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro joined the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Association of Retired Persons’ (AARP) Age-Friendly Network in November 2021; and WHEREAS, a requirement of AARP Age-Friendly Network membership is to submit and implement a Five-Year Age-Friendly Action Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council proclaimed San Leandro an Age-Friendly City on November 11, 2023 and again on November 7, 2024; and
WHEREAS, a Fiscal Year 2024-2029 City of San Leandro Five-Year Age-Friendly Action Plan was produced via a community-participatory process that included key stakeholder interviews with City Council, City staff, and external stakeholders; listening sessions; presentations and engagement of key stakeholder groups; and a robust community-wide survey; and WHEREAS, the Age-Friendly Action Plan includes six priorities and thirteen projects that the City proposes to implement during Fiscal Year 2024-2029; and WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro solicited public comments for twenty-two days by publishing a notice about the draft Plan in a local newspaper of general circulation and other communication outlets, and by providing the Plan for review on the City’s Human Services Department website; and WHEREAS, all public comments received were considered in the contents of the final Plan and/or will be considered during the implementation planning; and WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends execution and submission of said Age-Friendly Action Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows:
That said Fiscal Year 2024-2029 Age-Friendly Plan to meet the AARP requirement is adopted and approved; and
That the City Manager is authorized to make non-substantive edits and amendments, to execute and submit to AARP the FY 2024-2029 City of San Leandro Age-Friendly Action Plan; and That the City Manager is authorized to execute all documents and take all actions necessary to implement and effect the purpose and intent of this Resolution.
