Mayor Erica A. Stewart will call the Special Meeting and Closed Session of the San Luis Obispo City Council to order.

CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL – EXISTING LITIGATION (Estimated Time: 15 minutes) Paragraph (1) of subdivision (d) of Government Code §54956.9; Name of case: Richard W. Ferris, as Trustee of the Richard W. & Sharliss S. Ferris Trust, v. City of San Luis Obispo; San Luis Obispo Superior Court Case No. 23CV-0467.
4. CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSION ITEMS
4.a
DISCUSSION ON COUNCIL INTERNS (Estimated Time: 35 minutes) Discussion on the concept of hiring interns to assist City Council Members. Staff will provide a brief presentation on applicable personnel administration language from the City's Charter and Municipal Code.
4.b
DISCUSSION ON THE CITY'S VOLUNTEER PROGRAM (Estimated Time: 35 minutes) The City’s Volunteer Coordinator, Kiersten Anderson, will provide a brief educational overview of the City’s volunteer program and give a navigation demonstration of the recently launched “Engage SLO” volunteer website ( volunteer.slocity.org
). Council will be able to ask questions and have discussion.

The next Regular Meeting of the City Council will be held on November 7, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo.
