You have received this feedback from Christine Armstrong < [email protected] > for the following page:

We are residents of Discovery Hills for almost 29 years. Our community shares many common interests:
*protecting our neighborhoods from wildfires *sharing and maintaining our beautiful lake, trails, and parks with all of San Marcos * preventing flooding and polluted water runoff *solving traffic management issues through our neighborhoods *protecting open space for all San Marcos residents to utilize Even though we have grown, we are still a tight knit community of common interests. We want to continue to be represented in District 2 to preserve the neighborhood character of Discovery Hills. Respectfully submitted, Christine and Greg Armstrong, 788 Poppy Rd

Hello Mayor Jones and all City Council Members,

I had hoped to be able to attend this evening’s Council meeting, but I am not.

I appreciate all the work that goes into redistricting maps and trying to create equal Council Districts which meet all the legal criteria.

I do have some concerns about one of the proposed maps - Map Option A. I have attached a copy of that map with my “drawings” to clarify with my comments ( Sulier Map 1).

I reside at 441 Sutter Ct., currently in District 3. Map Option A would move a small portion of our neighborhood into District 4. I presume this has to do with the more rural nature of District 4. However, the section of District 3 you have carved out for District 4 (see eastern circle on the map) is really part of a more vast and contiguous interconnected neighborhood which extends from your current south-eastern edge between District 3 and 4 along Via Camellia, Vila Belleza and property lines on the south, up north to Rock Springs Rd.

This even splits a housing tract and homeowners association. Please see my second map where I outline the edges of the housing tract. (Sulier Map 2) Certainly that is definitely a complete and integral neighborhood and should not be split up. This is a contiguous suburban neighborhood stretching from Bougher Rd on the west to Nordahl on the east to Rock Springs on the north and Mission on the south. The issues and problems for the residents of this area you are carving out are more like the surrounding District 3 than District 4. PLEASE reconsider this area’s district lines.

My second concern is that I noticed Map Option A ALSO splits the Discovery Hills area. Please refer to the circle on the western side of the map. Discovery Hills is also one contiguous and interconnected neighborhood. Dividing the section of Discovery Hills from Quail Mill Dr on the south, Via Vera Cruz on the east, Discovery Street on the north and La Cumbre Dr on the west into two Districts is an injustice to that neighborhood as well.

I have no idea what the demographics might be, but perhaps these two areas could be “swapped” making 2 whole neighborhoods instead of 2 split neighborhoods.

Thank you for your careful consideration of my concerns. I am available to answer questions if needed Barbara Sulier
