RESOLUTION NO. 2023 - 9101
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, CALIFORNIA ADOPTING THE 2023 SAN MARCOS LEGISLATIVE
PLATFORM
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the need for an active state and federal legislative program to ensure that the interests of its residents and business are protected and/or enhanced; and WHEREAS, one goal of the City Council was to establish a state and federal advocacy program to increase the City’s presence at both levels of government; and
WHEREAS, the legislative platform serves as the foundation for a focused advocacy strategy to include the protection of local finances, the procurement of alternative solutions for community redevelopment, and the preservation of local control on issues dealing with land use and zoning, sustainability and energy strategies, labor relations, and telecommunications; and
WHEREAS, legislative priorities have been prepared for 202 3 based on City priorities and the legislative priorities adopted by the League of California Cities; and WHEREAS, the City enacts updated platforms annually which guides City staff and provides a process for effectively communicating the City’s positions on measures to the appropriate elected representatives; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it necessary to modify Legislative Platform annually in order to clarify City Council positions and direction.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of San Marcos approves and adopts the 2023 San Marcos Legislative Platform attached hereto as Attachment A.
