Dear Members of the City Council,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to move onto the next step of the selection process.
My name is Sid Subramanian, I am an incoming Sophomore at San Marcos High School.
I am pursuing this role becauseI see the benefits of uniting a community, especially while society continues to drift towards isolation. The ability to unite with community does not need to be an intricate task, rooted in complex tradition and hard for newcomers to join. With just a frisbee, football or tennis ball, I have seen how people come together over sport and recreational activities in general. I believe it is a great way to unite a community and for everyone to have fun - to connect kids and help them spend their time intentionally instead of spending all day on a screen.
While it is good to understand the importance of communities, cultures and recreational activities, this understanding is not without new ideas. As an attendee of previous Youth Council Events, here are some ideas that I can bring: making these events more widely known to the Average Joe, as well as bringing food trucks, so people can stay longer, and Mom- and-Pop- Shops can shine.
I believe I am a very lucky person to have everything that I do and to be in the situation that I am. After seeing the benefits of various charity work I have been part of, this is a new and exciting endeavor and I hope to expand on what previous members have accomplished.
It is a shame that I could not present in person becauseof a preplanned family vacation. Pleasedon’t take it as if I am any less motivated for the position. Thank you all for your consideration. I am very grateful for this opportunity.
