RESOLUTION NO. 2023-XXXX
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR CREEKSIDE MARKETPLACE RE-ROOFING WORK AND DELEGATING AUTHORITY TO THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE, FINALIZE, AND EXECUTE THE CONTRACT WITH BEST CONTRACTING SERVICES, INC.
Whereas, the City is required to maintain reliable and operational roofs as a commercial real estate landlord; and Whereas, City Staff has determined re-roofing work is required for buildings 561, 563, 565, 575, 579, 591 & 595 Grand Ave within the Creekside Marketplace shopping center to meet safety and legal requirements; and Whereas, The Fiscal Year 2023-24 Adopted Annual Operations and Capital Improvement Program Budget includes the re-roofing project in the Creekside Marketplace Enterprise fund (601); and Whereas, IDS Real Estate Group, acting in its capacity as the City’s real property management consultant and on the City’s behalf, has publicly advertised a request for proposal yielding three responses, and subsequently chose the most qualified, responsible bidder; and WHEREAS, the proposal from Best Contracting Services, Inc. has been reviewed by IDS Real Estate Group on behalf of the City and by City staff, and has been determined to meet the needs of the re-roofing work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of San Marcos hereby awards a contract to Best Contracting Service, Inc. in the amount of $1,000,000 for the Creekside Marketplace Reroofing project, and authorizes the City Manager to negotiate, finalize, and execute contract documents.
