RESOLUTION NO. 2024-9300
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS TO SUPPORT AND PRIORITIZE TRANSITION AGE FOSTER YOUTH FOR FUTURE AFFORDABLE HOUSING PREFERENCE GROUP Whereas, the City is a leader among local jurisdictions and is committed to developing affordable housing to support vulnerable residents in the San Marcos community; and WHEREAS, the City has developed ten percent of the total housing stock in the City as deed-restricted affordable housing; and WHEREAS, the City continues to seek affordable housing development partners to strengthen the safety net for all low-moderate income individuals and families in the San Marcos community; and WHEREAS, the City identifies transition aged foster youth as a group requiring additional supportive services and housing security to bridge the transition into adulthood; and Whereas, the City desires to reduce transition aged foster youth by partnering with affordable housing developers to identify and support the development of future housing with the priority preference group of transition aged foster youth; and Whereas, the City may enter into affordable housing agreements with affordable housing developers who prioritize transition age foster youth as the target resident group for new affordable developments.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that City Council of the City of San Marcos does hereby authorize the prioritization of transition age foster youth for future new affordable housing developments in the City of San Marcos, and the City Council hereby delegates to and authorizes the City Manager to enter into negotiation agreements with said affordable housing development contracts and related documents.
