RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE FISCAL YEAR 2024-25 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM BUDGET TO ADD A NEW CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT FOR THE BRADLEY PARK SPORTS FIELD LIGHTING PROJECT (CIP #PK011), APPROPRIATING THE NECESSARY FUNDS AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY HUD ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE COMMUNITY PROJECT FUNDING GRANT AGREEMENTS AND RELATED DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, while performing routine maintenance and inspections, staff discovered a deteriorated wooden sports field lighting pole at Bradley Park, and WHEREAS, staff hired a contractor to perform emergency repairs to replace the failed light pole, and WHEREAS, upon further inspection, staff discovered other deteriorated and potentially failing light poles, and WHEREAS, staff applied for and was awarded a Community Project Funding Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Whereas, $850,000 was awarded to start the initial phase of the project; and Whereas, the City desires to construct these improvements in an expeditious manner; and Whereas, staff has requested that the City Council amend the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Capital Improvement Program Budget to add a new project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of San Marcos hereby:
Approves the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Capital Improvement Program Budget amendment to include the Bradley Park Sports Field Lighting Project (CIP # PK011) as detailed in Attachment 1: PK011 CIP Budget Sheet; and Authorizes an appropriation of Community Project Funding Grant funds of $850,000 to the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Capital Improvement Program Budget for the Bradley Park Sports Field Lighting project (CIP #PK011); and Authorizes the City Manager to negotiate and execute any HUD economic development initiative community project funding grant agreements and related documents, and to make the appropriate adjustments to each budget as outlined herein and to cite this Resolution as authorization.
