RESOLUTION NO. 2024-XXXX
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS APPROVING, IN ACCORDANCE WITH COUNCIL POLICY 2012-04, THE APPROPRIATION AND UTILIZATION OF UP TO $466,000 IN ONE-TIME RECURRING SAVINGS/OPPORTUNITY RESERVE FUNDS TO PROCURE AND INSTALL A SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEM AT THE CORKY SMITH GYM FACILITY AND DELEGATING AUTHORITY TO THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE, FINALIZE, AND EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH CORE ENERGY SOLUTIONS FOR EQUIPMENT AND INSTALLATION WHEREAS, staff has recommended installation of a solar system at Corky Smith Gymnasium to meet climate action plan goals and cost savings for the city utilizing up to $466,000 in funds from the One-Time Recurring Savings/Opportunity Reserve Funding, and WHEREAS, staff recommends a sole source procurement with Core Energy Solutions based on the benefits received by the City, and WHEREAS, staff recommends that City Council delegate authority to the City Manager to negotiate and execute a contract with Core Energy solutions to provide solar infrastructure at the Corky Smith Gym, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that City Council of the City of San Marcos does hereby authorize the appropriation of up to $466,000 from One-Time Recurring Savings/Opportunity Reserve category of the General Fund Reserve within the FY 2024-25 Operating Budget to install a solar system at Corky Smith Gymnasium, and delegates authority to the City Manager to negotiate, finalize, and execute related agreements to procure the necessary equipment and installation as necessary.
