CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Jones called the City Council Meeting to order at 3:00 PM.
ROLL CALL:
PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: JONES, LEBLANG, MUSGROVE, NUÑEZ, SANNELLA ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
Also present were Budget Review Committee Members Chris Freeman, Joanne Harris-Malone, and Ben Barlow.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Chris Freeman, Budget Review Committee Member, spoke in support of the draft budget and the valuable city services provided by public employees.
CITY COUNCIL BUDGET WORKSHOP
CITY MANAGER BENDER provided summary of budget cost saving measures and revenue generating actions taken and further options for consideration.
FINANCE DIRECTOR DONNA APAR AND BUDGET MANAGER JANET BROTHERTON provided current economic trends, a budget update, and forecasts on revenues and expenditures for current and next fiscal years.
CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSION INCLUDED: clarification of future year project planning, use of grant and other non-city funding sources for projects, fiscal responsibility and use of best value analysis regarding city service, current and future employment contract costs and needs; focus use of funds on core city services of public safety, parks and recreation and public works, maintaining public trust in the use of Measure Q tax dollars and budgeting for capital improvements and ongoing maintenance.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Jones adjourned the meeting at 3:40 PM.
