RESOLUTION NO. 2026-XXXX
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS APPROVING A SALARY ADJUSTMENT FOR THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS CONSISTENT WITH ORDINANCE NO. 2009-1315 WHEREAS, San Marcos Municipal Code (SMMC) section 2.08.030 authorizes compensation for the Mayor and City Council Members; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2009-1315, codified in SMMC section 2.09.030, provides that such compensation may be adjusted based on the prior year’s increase in the San Diego Consumer Price Index (CPI), not to exceed five percent per year; and WHEREAS, the reported year-over-year increase in the San Diego Consumer Price Index for March 2026 is 3.2%; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to increase the salary for the Mayor and all City Council Members by 3.2%, effective June 19, 2026, to align with the pay period covering July 1, 2026, consistent with the provisions of the Municipal Code and Ordinance No. 2009-1315; and WHEREAS, this Resolution No. 2026 – XXXX is not intended to and shall not operate to affect in any way any other benefits the City Council Members may receive including, but not limited to, health insurance benefits, which benefits will continue to be the same as those earned by executive staff of the City.
