RESOLUTION NO. 2026-XXXX
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR A SAFETY CENTER HVAC UNIT REPLACEMENT TO JACKSON & BLANC AND DELEGATING AUTHORITY TO THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE, FINALIZE, AND EXECUTE THE CONTRACT Whereas, the City is required to maintain reliable and operational facilities as a commercial real estate landlord; and Whereas, City staff has determined replacement of an HVAC unit past its useful life is required at the Safety Center building, located at 187 Santar Place to meet lease requirements of the City as a commercial real estate landlord; and Whereas, the Fiscal Year 2025-26 Annual Operations and Capital Improvement Program Budget includes the renovations project in the Real Property Management fund (605); and Whereas, IDS Real Estate Group, acting in its capacity as the City’s real property management consultant and on the City’s behalf, has publicly advertised a request for proposal yielding two bids; and WHEREAS, the proposal from Jackson & Blanc has been reviewed by IDS Real Estate Group on behalf of the City and by City staff, and has been determined to meet the needs of the HVAC replacement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of San Marcos hereby awards a contract to Jackson & Blanc in the amount of $755,136 for the Safety Center HVAC unit replacement, and authorizes the City Manager to negotiate, finalize, and execute contract documents and approve and execute change orders within the project budget appropriated by the City Council.
