BACKGROUND
The San Marino Fire Department occasionally receives donations throughout the year from residents and organizations within the City of San Marino to assist the department in the purchase of equipment and new program expenses. The City of San Marino’s donation policy requires the City Council to approve any and all amendments to the Donations Fund expenditure appropriations.
DISCUSSION
During the month of December, the Fire Department received several generous donations from residents totaling $6,600. Additionally, the Fire Department currently has a Donations Fund Reserve Balance of $12,395 from donations made in previous fiscal years. A significant portion of donations in the Donations Fund Reserve were received from the Chinese Club of San Marino. All of the donations were unrestricted and were not intended for specific purposes besides to assist the department in the purchase of equipment and new program expenses.
