Description of General Fund Costs
The existing play structures at the Lacy Park playground are over 10 years old and showing signs of age. In 2023, the City formed a subcommittee comprised of members of both the Public Safety and Recreation Commissions ito evaluate options for the playground. A playground safety audit was also conducted to determine if repairs are feasible without a full reconstruction.

Based on the results of the audit and discussion with the Playground Committee, a multi-year phased replacement of the playground was approved by the City Council in October 2024, with FY 24-25 funds (including a generous donation from the Paul Elieff Memorial Fund via the Rotary Club of San Marino) to be used for replacement of the ages 5-12 structure and swing set. For FY 25-26, funds will be utilized for replacement of the under-5 structure and the addition of freestanding pieces, in accordance with the multi-year phased plan
