SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION NO. R-25-16

AMENDING JOB CLASSIFICATIONS

STRATEGIC PLAN CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS
Efficient, Responsive, and Effective City Services
Fiscally Responsible and Transparent City Government

BACKGROUND
The City continues to explore various methods to improve operational efficiency, including updating job classifications. It is common practice in organizations to update job classifications to ensure that they accurately reflect modernized operations and improved workflow efficiencies, therefore resulting in subsequent updating of tasks, duties, responsibilities, and qualifications required for specific roles. If the responsibilities, required skills, or the scope of the role significantly changes in a position, creating a new job classification will ensure that the position accurately reflects the expectations of the job.

DISCUSSION
Section 02.05.01 of the Code provides that the City Manager shall prepare position classifications for City employees, and for the City Council to approve the addition of classifications via resolution. A Resolution (Attachment 1) amending the job classifications has been prepared.

Department Heads reviewed the respective job classifications (Attachment 2) within their departments and are recommending updating the job classifications for the following positions:
