BACKGROUND
At the July 25, 2025, City Council meeting, the City Council made a request for a future agenda item to proclaim October 10, 2025, as the National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in line with a similar proclamation adopted by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors last year.

The intent is to honor the rich cultural influence that Taiwan and residents of Taiwanese descent have on our City and region.

DISCUSSION
The National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan), which is also known as the Double Tenth Day, holds great significance, marking the commemoration of the founding of the Republic of China on October 10, 1911 which was later formalized in January of 1912.
